Foothills Farm is near many destination points in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Close by are many attractions & conveniences, great gathering places for events, yet except for the noise of local road traffic, we are very secluded & private!

The topography is cleared, gently rolling hillsides, with patches of trees scattered about. As much as possible we have preserved the unused portion of the farm, allowing nature to thrive! We have chosen to leave it in its natural state, as close to native & wild as is possible, thus attracting & helping to sustain a lot of birds, butterflies, & bees! Often in the evening we see wild turkey & deer. Two years ago I saw a black bear here. This means though, that as out in nature, you must pay attention to your surroundings due to things like poison ivy, biting bugs, and snakes.

Bordering our property is a nature preserve of 1396 acres. We refer to it as "The Enchanted Forest." We tell folks that we have been given an ambivalent answer from the trust company who owns it. They didn't give us permission, nor did they tell us that we could not hike and explore the land. I always just tell folks that you can walk in there as far as I know, & I do, but use your own discretion. Particularly when hunting season is in, I strongly advise not to enter the enchanted forest.

Bird lovers will find many varieties of indigenous species on site at given times. The exuberant bird life here exhibits the health of the land! You can expect to identify a number of bird species if you enjoy that. The wide-openness here also offers wonderful night sky viewing, providing clear skies of course! Sunrises and sunsets can be gorgeous & mesmerizing as well. The traffic noise, thankfully, does die down as the evening progresses.

RV'rs, if you want to plug in with electricity & water, kindly jump right on down to the "RVGlamp at Foothills Farm" site. There is an additional $15 charge to plug in. You can stay in your RV unplugged, but we do not allow generators to run on account of the noise for the other campers.

Lastly, we do have a community kitchen set up in the Barn of ART. The barn is my former horse barn converted to human friendly use! The toilet & shower are located in the barn. We have electricity, power charger blocks, & running water in the barn.

Come!  Grab a night or two away, camp out under the stars in a lovely, safe bit of nature, and find a moment of escape from your reality. . .

Great weekend excursion - just about an hour from our place in Atlanta. Took my boys (4 and 7) here for their first ‘primitive’ camping trip. We were able to drive right up to our selected tent spot. Having the little dudes with us, it proved very helpful having a toilet up at the barn. We took a side trip over to the Hollis Q Latham Reservoir and caught a small bluegill and shellcracker. Host Marla is extremely hospitable. You can hear a bit of traffic from the nearby highway, but it certainly beats those state parks where you’re only a couple dozen feet from the next campsite.

Foothills Farm is an eclectic, artsy campground, complete with chickens. The host Marla was super helpful and accommodating. The farm is near a grocery store and there are also restaurants in the area. Campers have access to a communal kitchen which is a real plus. Renovations are in progress, and Marla has fascinating plans, so we look forward seeing how things have changed the next time we camp at Foothills Farm.

Marla was a great host. Very friendly and helpful. We forgot to bring a few things, but luckily Foothills Farm is about 5 minutes from a Dollar General, so we were able to get what we needed. There is a little road noise to go with that convenience, but it was pretty quiet. The farm is easy 20 minute drive to Amicalola for those that want to hike. The horses and the dog were very friendly. We also make friends with a cat named Whiskey that would frequent our camp site.

Foothills Farms is a private, low key, relaxing place to camp that is a short drive from a grocery store, restaurants and other small retail stores. Marla is a very accommodating host and the Art Barn is a Bonus.
Be aware that this site is close to a major road so vehicle traffic can be heard until late at night. That being said, you never see traffic, only a sky full of stars. The rooster and the donkey are ready to help you welcome the day =) Over all we enjoyed our stay and will stay here again.

We had a great time at Foothills! Three moms abs their kids camped there. Jim and Tina were wonderful hosts. The property is beautiful and easy to get to. We liked the convenience to town. The barn was a hit with our kids. Would definitely come back !

The space was nice, but smaller than expected. Seams like fields are not maintained enough to really spread out. Barn was great and much bigger than expected. Kids loved it. Chickens and horses were around to see all day

This was such a cute camping experience. It was our first time car camping and it was nice to have an indoor bathroom, safe place, animals, and a great host.

The property is close to city life while still feeling like a get away from the city. We had amazing views of the stars and sunrise and the farm made for a great walk.

Marla has a gorgeous property! I didn't get a chance to meet her as she was out of town but our interaction thru HipCamp was wonderful. She was so responsive and sweet - allowing us to pick our own spot since we were the only tent booking that day. Her barn is a true luxury. We had access to running water, shower, toilet and sitting areas to hang out. And were able to borrow a firepit and chair for our camping spot. The horses were beautiful and sweet and the hike to the cemetery was fun! Overall a wonderful experience for my husband and I's anniversary. We will definitely be back! Thank you!
