We were looking for a private primitive spot in the woods. We found it! Pleasantly surprised. Beautiful cleared view of the stars. Slight Mountain View in the distance. And very quiet. Plenty of flat cleared area for your tent, a picnic table on site and fire ring.
A little bit of red clay; otherwise, perfect and and secluded.
This is a suburban development. The guy who owns the lot across the street is president of the HOA and is suing the owner as the bylaws prohibit leasing the property out for camping according to him. He called the Sheriff on us for breaking the law.
The road to the campsite was so overgrown we could not drive down it and it was so steep, there is NO WAY an RV could make it to the flat spot at the top. It is four wheel drive only. The view of s also overgrown at the top so there is no view.
They stay was nice, and secluded. The 2 minor issues we going up the hill when entering the road to make it to the top where the site was located had overgrowth where branches and other plant material can scratch your vehicle. At the top of the site it was very spacious, but the view to the mountains was okay. There was overgrowth blocking most of the view so it was difficult to have a good view of the mountains. Overall we had a great stay at the site.
Great primitive campsite! 10 out of 10. It’s carved into the side of a mountain. Lots of pines with some mountain views. Clean, level, few bugs (no mosquitoes), 4 bars of At&T LTE. The last 100 ft of the driveway is steep (26% grade), with a curve. You really need 4-wheel drive, backing down would’ve difficult if you got stuck half way up. You can’t use speed to get up because of the curve. I went up in a 4WD truck (37 inch tire) and a truck camper.
Perfect secluded site to crash for the night while traveling.
Very quiet and beautiful property. Host is very responsive.
We enjoyed our stay, but probably would not take our RV up there again. The driveway gets very steep at the top. If you are not in low gear with a little speed, you will slide backwards. The driveway was also pretty over grown and rough. We definitely carried some branches up the hill with us. With that being said...... we did get up there and back down without any major problems. So it is doable in an RV.
The cleared area has a nice picnic table. There is a beautiful view of the stars with no ground light!
The day we stayed there it rained some. Since the camping area is just cleared land..... the good ol Georgia clay got pretty messy.
The gated community made us feel safe. The neighbors from up the street came to say hello when we first arrived. They seem to keep a close eye on things in the development.
This was perfect for what we needed. All the sites at the state park were booked and we needed a last minute camp site for 8 people 6 tents before starting our back packing the next day. I wouldn’t stay here a week but for a cheap overnight close to the state park.... perfect!
