Places to see near Brooks Lake, a piece of Heaven
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
My hubby and I had some great alone time!!! We’re already planing our next trip. Everything was awesome we went for our 11th Anniversary, our 10th was postponed due to the pandemic so to play it safe this was our best option. Bill was a delight!! Thank you again for the experience!
Best campsite/fishing in town!
Best campsite in town!!!!!! I would stay here a million times over, the land owners are very warm welcoming people. Great hospitality like no other! Also caught a 14 lb bass in this lake!!!!!! Best fishing
Best camping trip ever. Friendly people, lots of space. No one real close to you. This place is fabulous. I will definitely be back here a lot. My favorite camp spot.
The host was fantastic. Could not ask for better.
Great potential but mixed bag
Let me start by saying that the staff were delightful. Absolutely no complaints on that front. I booked a stay here for peaceful camping on the lake. My husband and I were to meet up with friends and their two kids for what would be the kids’ first camping trip. What we got was something completely different. Once we arrived we were told that there was going to be some filming done that involved a helicopter and a small concert during the weekend. I was a little surprised by that but we were already there and this place is over 100 acres. So, I thought it wouldn’t be that bad. And honestly, it wasn’t the worst thing ever. On the second day, a group came in and started having people get on an helicopter, hover over the lake and had people jump out of the helicopter and into the lake. Also on day two, we could here a microphone getting set up across the lake. Loud music was played for a couple of hours. I believe that any experience is what you make of it. We didn’t expect stuntmen jumping out of helicopters or a loud concert but we worked with it. We helped one of the helicopter guys with his vest and cheered for him when he jumped. We had a dance party to the music across the lake, which eventually, calmed down so we could get a good night’s sleep. In the end, the kids had a ball and we reconnected with a dear friend and his family. All went well. It would have been nice to have known all of this beforehand, though. I may have considered booking elsewhere because this was not the experience that I thought I had signed up for. This site is lovely and has a lot of potential for concerts in the woods, lake theatrics, and for camping…just not all at once. Best of luck to the owners. They were lovely and I am sure they will find their stride. Overall, we really did enjoy ourselves.
Not a quiet or peaceful spot
I had high hopes because of the ratings but when we got there it just went down hill. Host said he was going to meet us at site to pick up trash the last guests left and he never came by. We found a secluded spot near the lake since there were so many other campers there. The lake view was hey but if you want peace and quiet and tranquility this is NOT the camping spot for you. There was a concert and a huge group of people playing music until 1am. Once the music and screaming finally stopped then the drag racing started right off the property. There was a helicopter there for a couple hours which was of course not helping either. If you want to party then this is a great place. Not for us though. If we knew about this beforehand and the host let us know, I wouldn’t be writing this review.
