Family-friendly
Recent Hipcampers say this Hipcamp is great for families and kids.
A small but unique piece of land that was given to a family in the 1920s by the Florida Railroad Company. It stayed in the family until we purchased it. It is unique because the surrounding area does not have much tree coverage. This is due to the ground underneath, which is a vein of grey marl. This is why the area is called the Allapattah (an Indian word for Alligator) Flats. We are hoping that our county stays the way it is so people will know what Old Florida really looks like. Minutes from I-95, but surrounded by the Allapattah Flats Wildlife Management Preserve. Located on Martin Hwy, which was recently designated as a Florida Scenic Hwy. Fifteen minutes to Stuart and thirty minutes to West Palm Beach, a world away from the hustle and bustle. We realize that people also love Florida for Disney and tropical paradises but if that is what you want than this may not be your kind of place.

Site 2 faces the sunset
The site is great to camp. The only issue is that it is relatively close to a road.

Site 1 up to 25, shaded in the back
This is a wonderful, wonderful place to stay. Everything is even better than it was described in the listing. It is a true example of old Florida. We would stay here again and again! The property is very clean and well kept. Cal and Christine are great hosts; very accommodating and friendly. On a scale of one to 10, we would give them about 385!!!!

To be continued
So when we got to our camping site we noticed that our setup was too big for this particular tent site. We called the host Christine and she accommodated us in an RV site instead. Thankfully there was room for us since the weather was so bad, We ended up going to RV site number 2 and we had plenty of space and a beautiful view of the pond. After we finish setting up our rooftop tent awning and annex, we had two ponies visiting our setup. They were super friendly and super curious. Even allowed us to touch their Mane. We even saw two tiny Gators swimming around in the pond. Nothing to worry about they were minding their own business. The next morning Cal came over and gave us the home grown honey that we purchased in advanced. I must admit that the hosts are very friendly and very informative. Unfortunately, we had to leave on our first morning because our son was sick back home. We didn't get to enjoy the whole experience but we are eagerly looking to come back soon. They have a very nice campground very well kept and very organized. The porta potties were super clean and close by. We cannot wait to come back again. This time I'll bring my kids along. Thank you once again Christine and Cal

Camping Staycation from city life!
We enjoyed this camping staycation! Great weather, campfire, stars and moonlight. Site 1 did have the most beautiful direct sunset and some brush for privacy. However it is closest to the house so I felt like I was in someone’s backyard and concerned not to disturb the owners! No one was at adjacent Site 2 so also we had more privacy. (Other sites near fence seemed more tucked away in trees and private) We brought chairs, a small table, portable grill and also set up a sun shade which was nice during the day. The property is gorgeous so take time to enjoy the Florida trees and nature. We also felt very safe. Yes there is highway noise as many mentioned- day is more constant like white noise but for night just bring ear plugs for sleep and it should be ok! We appreciate the experience!
