Great spot for a weekend getaway
Found a nice secluded spot on the lake. Nice clean bathroom. Close to Punta Gorda and hiking at Charlotte Harbor Preserve State Park.

This was my first time booking with Hipcamp and it did not disappoint. I stayed 2 nights and it was awesome. Plenty of space between just a handful of other campers. And I caught over 10 fish in less than 48 hours. Bring your kayak! I highly recommend this location. As an added perk, I was fortunate to meet the owner and several of his staff - good people, salt of the earth quality folks. I will definitely be staying here again, done deal!!!

After one night in an RV resort we were so pleased to find a private, scenic rustic camping spot for our PoP-up camper.
We stayed here for two nights. It was well lit in case you came in late. The host was amazing at communication and answering questions. The lake is beautiful, lots of room to spread out and enjoy privacy. Really enjoyed the quite and private location. Highly recommend.
Might be good if you have an RV, but wasn't great for tent camping. It's nice that there were bathrooms, but they were not pleasant. It was unclear if the water was potable. It has a very strong sulfur smell.
We arrived after dark, which is never ideal and rarely planned...with that being said, the instructions to camp sent with booking were were adequate, but minimal, so I would highly recommend arriving well before sundown so you can get a good lay of the land. Sites are not marked and I am still uncertain if you can drive to any of the areas available to camp, so if you are bringing alot of gear and not planning to camp near the "parking area", you may want to clarify with the host....otherwise it seemed entirely possible that you may have to hike your gear to camp.
Otherwise, the restrooms/showers were clean, but as others have mentioned, the water smelled of sulphur pretty bad. I only stayed one night and left early the next morning. Skipping a shower as a result wasn't a huge deal, but I could see where this might pose an issue for most.
Overall, I would definitely stay there again. The land itself was very scenic. Combining the price point, facilities and overall cleanliness of the property, an overnight stay there was of considerable value and very much appreciated!
