We have .75 miles of frontage on the Orange Creek. The creek flows into Lake Ocklawaha which just so happens to be one of the best bass fishing lakes in the USA. In fact, ten-pound bass are not uncommon from the Lake Ocklawaha River in the winter. Recently (2020), a 17.2-pound bass was caught there. The combined Ocklawaha and St. Johns drainage basin is possibly the most significant river-estuary waterway of Florida. This water system is of legendary reputation among anglers of largemouth bass who seek 10 pound plus trophy fish.
Conveniently located between Ocala and Gainesville in the heart of Orange Springs, Florida, Camp Seminole Spring is perfectly located for the traveler who wants to really connect with nature. It appears to be ‘off the beaten path’, yet it is close enough to civilization so that even the most seasoned camper can make a quick run to store should he or she need something not found in nature.
Camp Seminole Spring is mid-way (approx.. 22 miles) between Ocala and Gainesville, Florida, which are two thriving cities in this area of Florida. Ocala, the ‘horse capital of the world’ showcases a brand new multi-billion-dollar equestrian center which draws people from all over the world.
This scenic property has an artesian spring which pushes out 1.6 million gallons of water per day rated among the top three percent of water in the world with an 8.4 natural pH. This water fills the pond and then continues on to flow into Orange Creek.
Camp Seminole Springs was established in the 1940’s as a honeymoon resort and campground. The founders built a heart-shaped ‘pond-spring’ which is filled with the crystal-clear water pushed out from the spring where guests can lounge by the beach or gaze down into the bottom through the glass-like water or take a refreshing swim.
At the top of the hill overlooking the heart-shaped spring, one will find the rustic Great Lodge where guests can come and mingle with each other, enjoy a relaxing conversation and a drink on the veranda or just sit and watch the activity in and around the spring.

Sink into that sand boil!
this is a beautiful property that the owner is very passionate about. i appreciated their being flexible about our set-up as we were two paying parties but one with tents, one with a camper van. we were able to set-up in a large area that offered plenty of room for us all. sinking in the sand boil was especially exciting and unique experience, but we spent generally the whole of saturday simply enjoying a soak in that lovely heart-shaped spring. would definitely come again.
This little oasis is perfect and only getting better with the upgrades they are doing! Easy to find, located right across the street from a Dollar General in case you forget something. The campsites are great and they provided metal fire rings as well as wood. Randy was so hospitable, we definitely felt at home! We had to leave earlier than expected so we will definitely be back to try the spring! Beware of ticks though, we picked up quite a few on ourselves and dogs.
This spot is absolute perfection !
Paradise little spot, the river and the colors. Just mind blowing.
My son loved it as much as me. Next time we’ll bring some fishing gear.
The host is sooo kind and happy to chat and show you around.
Know there is bugs.
Lone star ticks, spiders, hornets, mosquitos & yellow flies. - I’d hope you expect that for being near Ocala ! Worth all the itchies.
Absolutely loved it here!! The host was awesome and so friendly! The sites are very secluded and the fire pits are huge! Can’t wait to be back when the host is completely done with the area. 10/10 recommend!
New florida gem
This was an awesome experience! Perry and his family treated us wonderfully. Lots of area to explore and relax. Love all of the history of the area. Super laid back and easy going. Our dog had such a blast. Went canoeing down the Orange Creek. Soaked in the sand boil. Floated in the spring. Clean facilities and hot showers. Still got a lot of work but absolutely incredible potential for a seriously top notch campsite. Take advantage of this hidden gem. Thanks again Randy and Perry for your hospitality.
My husband and I just had the most amazing weekend at Camp Seminole Springs. There is adventure and lots of history here. Hiking trails are beautiful and serene. There heart shaped spring is relaxing as you float you can hear the small waterfall which is beautiful. We really enjoyed our 2 mile adventure as we kayaked down the creek. Camping sites are nice along with facilities. If you want to learn the history of the area go for a buggy ride with Randy it is amazing. This ace is nature at its best. The best camping experience my husband and I have had in years. We will return. Perry is an excellent host. Recommend highly for nature lovers.
This was a first time camping trip and I couldn’t ask for a better experience! Camp grounds were beautiful and very well kept. A canoe ride down the creek was very enjoyable. Owner was very helpful and considerate and helped provide me with the best camping trip.
Amazing camping experience.
Absolutely amazing for my first camping experience. So great to break away from the norm and reconnect with nature. I couldn't have picked a better location for this. I was greeted when I arrived and shown around. Can't wait to go back again soon! Thank you for everything
