We were really impressed with Pete's Field. We had read the reviews and heard people recommend the camp-site...our expectations were high! Thankfully, the whole experience really did live up to the hype. The field is large, with beautiful views of the English countryside. The toilets were spotless throughout our stay and the bucket showers really were wonderful! Pete and Amy were friendly and often can be seen walking through the field doing their various jobs. If you have any questions then they are easy to find and very helpful. We took our own tent and were a group of two adults and four children (ages 4,5,6 and 7). The simple pleasures of climbing on hay bales, swinging in the hammocks or the tree swing were more than enough for the children. We all had a great time! Next year, we are hoping to go for a longer stay.
Slightly sloping spacious field with lovely springy grass (good if you're a barefoot camper!). The bucket shower was a new experience and amazingly simple but effective, using just 15litres of water. The little touches like complimentary shower gel and shampoos (which were gorgeous) and a well stocked store of wood and essential items made for a well thought out and comfortable site.
Only challenges were if you wanted a more remote pitch at the bottom of the field and had not packed light, wheelbarrowing your gear up and down from your car was an effort. Avoid the haybales if you're in search of real quiet or pitch next to them if you have kids to entertain. A unique site that has clearly been carefully planned and developed by the hosts, offering space and back to nature experiences within a mile of all major amenities.
We were met by Amy and Pete who told us all we needed to know about the site and the surrounding area and made us feel most welcome. The site itself is a large field that allows only 20 pitches, each marked out by it's own firepit, so plenty of space and a great sense of freedom. You choose your own pitch and set up however you like. The whole experience is a mile away from the strict sites that tell you exactly what you must do and squeeze as many in as they can. The toilets are simple but practical and extremely well kept, the showers are a real experience to be enjoyed and always with plenty of warm water, the simple honesty shop has very little in it but exactly the sort of things you always end up needing. No cars on the site, which was wonderful, lots of wheelbarrows on hand to shift all your stuff. No amplified music and the space between the pitches meant one of the quietest experiences we've had, wonderful. I really can't find fault with Petes Field and am hoping to return as soon as possible, thankyou Amy and Pete.
A lovely, quiet site with everything you need for a tranquil camping experience.
Clean toilets and wash basins, each pitch with a metal fire bowl and an honesty shop for logs and other basic provisions.
No cars in the campsite which is nice and a lovely touch to have lots of wheelbarrow to help cart things to and from the car.
Excellent stay overall and would definitely visit again.
We had an amazing time at Pete's field. Our 7 year old's first time camping was made even more fun with the addition of some hay bales onto the campsite to climb on as we arrived.
Everything is set up to make the stay as easy as possible including showers, toilets, washing up and fire pits. The 'honesty pot' policy for anything else you may need is a lovely touch.
We'll definitely be back next year - hopefully with some sun!
We couldn't have had a better stay at Pete's field. We had the field to ourselves on the first night! The views are incredible, Pete and Amy are incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable. The bucket showers were steamy hot and delightful, with shampoo etc of a really high standard included. The toilets were pristinely clean. Having firewood / marshmallows etc with a honesty box on site was so helpful too, as well as the fire pits provided. Would recommend to all!
The sunsets, the showers, the swing... This campsite is a little piece of heaven.
The toilets and showers are of a very high standard - super clean. We bought two bags of logs and kindling (and matches) on site for the fire pit but we did also need fire lighters to get the flames going!
Location is great - a short drive from a Tesco Local and a great base for day trips to Folkestone and surrounding areas.
Pete and Amy were lovely hosts, full of local knowledge and tips.
We were first-time campers and this has definitely given us the bug!
We were lucky enough to stumble upon Petes field while searching for somewhere quite and relaxing to stay. We booked for a long weekend hoping it would be what we were looking for. And for once, it really was!
A gorgeous location, hosted by a truely great, friendly couple, and a very nice welcoming farmer! We felt at home and at ease from the moment we arrived, right until the sad moment we departed. Pete and Amy were legends and couldnt have done more for us. The kids (young) loved the place and we felt totally at ease letting them run free. Then once they were asleep we relaxed by a lovely log fire and soaked up the communal quite, as all pitches did likewise. We look forward to returning soon and spending some more quality time at our new favourite place ;-)
We have been there three times (will be four by the end of summer!) and have loved every stay!! Pete and Amy are wonderful hosts. A lovely couple who could not be more welcoming and helpful. The pitches are very well spaced apart, unlike other camping sites we have been to where you are crammed in with only your vehicle between your tent and the next one. Vehicles are not allowed on the site (park on the next field, metres from the field where you camp) but there are wheelbarrows there with which to transport your belongings to your pitch. The hot water, private bucket showers are brilliant and the toilets are the cleanest I've seen at camping grounds. Extra logs and kindling plus other extras like jams and marshmallows, are available on site. Plenty to do in Folkestone nearby and it is a great camping ground to come back to after a busy day out, with just the noise of the camp fires, the local cows, sheep and birds, plus the sound of kids playing. Cannot fault this place. You do a great job Pete and Amy and we look forward to seeing you again soon!!
