1. Fuel up in Alpine or Study Butte, depending on which direction you are traveling from.
-From Alpine: take HWY 118 South out of Alpine approximately 62 miles until you come to the only left turn lane. Turn left on Terlingua Ranch Road. You will see the large white Terlingua Ranch Lodge sign.
-From Study Butte: take Hwy 118 North 16 miles from the ALON gas station, turn right at the Terlingua Ranch Lodge sign.
2. Follow Terlingua Ranch Road approximately 16 miles. The first 13 miles are asphalt. There is not a center stripe, please stay on your side of the road. THE LAST THREE MILES ARE ON A MAINTAINED DIRT AND GRAVEL ROAD. It can be wash-boarded in areas. Please drive slowly and observe speed limits to help protect our roads
We are proud to be a part of The Greater Big Bend International Dark Sky Reserve. All guests are requested to keep their site as dark as possible between 10pm and 6am.
Fire Ban: Due to extreme drought, only gas grills and propane burners are allowed. NO charcoal or wood fires.
PARK INFO:
While we are adjacent to Big Bend National Park, it is approximately 36 miles to the Maverick Junction entrance of Big Bend National Park and an additional 22 miles to Panther Junction Headquarters and Visitors Center.
We are about 32 miles to Study Butte and about 37 miles to Terlingua Ghost Town area.
Terlingua Ranch is 192,000 acres of desert and mountains between Big Bend National Park and Big Bend Ranch State Park in far SW Texas. Our campsites are in the area of the Terlingua Ranch Lodge, which features a swimming pool, cafe, laundry, bathhouse, disc golf course, access to hiking trails, and other amenities. Terlingua Ranch is the perfect venue for your basecamp to Big Bend adventures, family reunions, and myriad other activities in the area.

When arriving at night it will be very
dark.. very few lights in use, dark sky's are protected in Big Bend.. so it may be hard to find. but we are directly
on the highway on the west side of 118.

This place is in a perfect spot. It’s got the best view of the mountain. I did not end up spending the night. I went to capture Milky Way shots and I mainly hung out on top of the container. It was perfect. I would absolutely come again with the intention of spending the night.

Weekend Trip to Good Guad Land Co.
We had an amazing stay at Wes's campsite. The views are absolutely spectacular, with beautiful sunrises, sunsets, and panoramic scenery in every direction. The site is peaceful, private, and a great place to relax and enjoy the outdoors.
We celebrated my nephew's birthday during our trip, and the campsite was one of the highlights of the weekend. Its location is also very convenient just a short drive from Guadalupe Peak, making it an excellent base camp for hiking and exploring the area.
Wes was a pleasure to work with. He was responsive, accommodating, and made everything easy from booking through arrival.
Although there is a highway nearby, we did not find the noise to be an issue at all. The site remained quiet and enjoyable throughout our stay. The availability of AC was also a very welcome feature.
The standout feature, however, is the incredible view from the deck in the afternoon and evening. We could have sat there for hours taking it all in.
We highly recommend this campsite and will definitely be back! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The camp spot was magnificent! It had 360° views, lots of solitude and it was quiet and peaceful! We wanted to come and stay a second night but it was storming really bad so we opted for a hotel. That said we will definitely be back! Wes was a pleasure to deal with and he was very responsive accommodating. I highly recommend this camp spot!

This place was awesome, even with the highway being not too far. You hear some vehicles every now and then but late at night they stop coming through. It’s in a spot with a great view of the mountains and stars! The lack of amenities and manmade structures makes you feel like you’re in the middle of no where which is definitely preferred if you’re camping. Absolutely awesome spot, gave us exactly what we were looking for, a raw camping experience.

This site was just as described. It was so nice to have the shaded area in late May as it was reaching temps in the 90s. The bathroom facility was just what I needed. The sky was amazing! You can see the milky way with the naked eye! If I'm ever back in the area, I would definitely stay here again.

Jay and Regina are excellent hosts. Their property is located in a prime location, close to Guadalupe Mountains National Park, Carlsbad Caverns National Park, and White Sands National Park. I went primitive site camping and the gravel was level unlike some previous spots I've been to where there was a grade and it'd be extremely uncomfortable to camp and sleep overnight. The site was clean and spacious. The site offers a toilet and shower (with hot running water, conserve use though!), and a laundry room that takes coins to operate $1.50-$2.00 for dryer or washer, I forget. Does not accept credit card. Only cash. There is a cash-to-coin exchange machine. Great views all around the property into the vast openness. I highly recommend checking this spot out and would like to keep it a hidden gem, but I want the owners and their business to succeed. So I must share!

Where to go
Northwestern Texas
The southwestern half of the Texas panhandle is often grouped together with West Texas and is home to the city of Lubbock. Geographically, it's part of the Llano Estacado, which extends into eastern New Mexico, among the largest mesas on the continent. Natural areas in the region include Big Spring State Park, Caprock Canyons State Park, and Palo Duro Canyon State Park.
The Trans-Pecos Region
The westernmost part of the state lies west of the Pecos River and is by far the least-populated area of the state. In fact, most of the region’s commercial activity takes place in the far west of town, in El Paso. Travel east from El Paso and you'll soon find yourself in the heart of the Chihuahuan Desert, home to the towering peaks of the Guadalupe Mountains National Park.
The El Paso Area
Although El Paso is more known for its historic sites and urban activities, the city and its surrounding areas have plenty for outdoor adventurers. Popular spots include Franklin Mountains State Park, a hit among hikers, and Hueco Tanks State Park & Historic Site, which offers a fine mix of hiking and rock climbing opportunities, plus around 20 campsites.
Big Bend and Around
Encompassing Big Bend National Park and Big Bend Ranch State Park and the surrounding areas, this part of West Texas is largely dominated by public lands. along with the Black Gap Wildlife Management Area and the Chinati Mountains State Natural Area. It gets its name from a large bend in the Rio Grande, which divides this region from neighboring Mexico.
