Runner Up Best in VA 2023 / 3rd Place Best of VA 2022. Passage Trout stocking April 5. Pastimes on Passage Creek Ranch is conveniently located at the north end of Fort Valley, VA. The property consists of 40 acres of low-land pasture, perfect for groups large or small. The Lakeside Mountain Stream site gives you the option to camp on our 5-acre lake, or camp in Creekside Cedar sites in shade along the banks of Passage Creek, just a very short walk to the lake. The property has 1/2mi of Passage Creek running adjacent to the campsites, as well as, the lake to enjoy. The Creekside Cedar sites are located within a sparse, groomed, Cedar grove along the banks of Passage Creek. These sites are extra large and can accommodate multiple family groups. This Lakeside Mountain Stream site is very secluded, overlooking our 5-acre lake and mountain views in the background. This site also has its own dock and is just a short walk to Passage Creek. An additional seasonal mountain stream cascades behind the site and feeds the lake. Locally, the North end of Fort Valley offers many great hiking trails, trout fishing, rock climbing, horseback riding, and the Elizabeth Furnace day-use park. Taskers Gap OHV/ATV park is a short drive south, and the valley is sandwiched between both forks of the Shenandoah River for those looking to paddle. Additionally, the local towns (Front Royal, Strasburg, Woodstock) offer their own charm and wide range of activities and attractions.

Cedar Grove 2

This is one of my favorite sites I have stayed at! It was not crowded and the sites were big. There were short trails through the property and more difficult trails right down the road. The site itself was absolutely beautiful, with a lake in front of a Mountain View. We even got to experience what Eric calls “frogathon,” where we were serenaded my toads, who have a surprising lovely call. I highly recommend this site!!

Lakeside Mountain Stream

Amazing place

This place was magical. Everything for a great weekend getaway. Porter potties were clean and water was perfect. Hosts are very friendly and came to check on us when we arrived. I already booked it again for the summer.

Lakeside Mountain Stream

Amazing site, great hosts!!

We stayed at the Lakeside site in our 23ft trailer for three nights in late March. We had an amazing time. The site is gorgeous, overlooking the lake and mountains with a bubbling brook right near the fire ring for lovely background noise. The creek is a stone’s throw away. The other sites are not visible from this one which we appreciated. The lake is crystal clear. Can’t wait to come back when it’s warmer to snorkel and swim. We fished and took advantage of the canoes offered. The docks, shed, porta potties, kayaks, paddles, life vests, etc were all in great shape. Eric was an excellent communicator and provided clear, easy to follow directions. His dad Chuck stopped by once on check in day and made sure we were all set. He was a pleasure to meet and very helpful. There is tons of stuff to do nearby - hikes, horseback riding and visiting Strasburg. It’s obvious this is a well cared for and loved property and a top notch operation. We plan to come back.

Cedar Grove 1

This is the one!

This Hipcamp is five stars! We stayed in Cedar Grove 1, and have our eye on Cedar Grove 2 for next time. We had four adults and each couple had an overland style trailer. The sites are huge with a picnic table, fairy solar lights, a very nice permanent grill, and an awesome fire ring. This camp has wood available for a very fair price and the bathroom area is super clean and cute. Camp 1 and 2 are the closest to the bathroom area but not too close 😄. We will be bringing a little larger group next time for sure! The host had excellent communication and reached out right away. The lake on the property looks like fun and we enjoyed a leisurely stroll along side, (until warmer months next year). We are looking forward to our return trip just one hour away from Western NoVa.

Lakeside Mountain Stream

Fall Foliage

We had a lovely time camping at this location. We caught and released quite a few fish from the dock by our site, and enjoyed the beautiful fall foliage. Eric's directions were clear and easy to follow, and the fire bundles he puts together are a great value. We ended up leaving early because it was a bit too cold at night, but we plan to come back in the spring. We'd definitely recommend this site. While it was just my partner, me, and our dog, this location would easily accommodate a much larger group. Thank you, Eric!
