Best for self-contained campers. There are no toilets, showers, or potable water at this Hipcamp.
This land is owned by Hearthstone Unity Ltd which is a registered charitable company. Philip H is a director of this company. Major objects of the charity related to this site are soil improvement and growing trees, trees and more trees to counter climate change. The property is located between the two pleasant towns of Murchison and Rushworth, practically on Lake Waranga. The sites are large, grassy and flat and are very easy to access. The camping/van parking spot is a quiet and pleasant place. Lake Waranga is within easy walking distance and has plenty of great fishing, boating and swimming available for you to enjoy. The southern boundary of the property links up with the Murchison - Rushworth Rail Trail which is a lovely spot to bike ride or walk. We are only 10 minutes from the historical gold mining town of Rushworth. Our site is also a fantastic spot to enjoy the beautiful sunsets and star gazing. With minimal light pollution, it would the perfect spot to set up a telescope and look at the night sky. The hosts are passionate about composting and request campers to compost their food scraps in the bins provided at the corner of the security compound area. Please take care to compost the correct items only and add grass, hay or straw to make layers between food scraps to ensure the compost system runs successfully. We will negotiate the supply of water to fill the tanks of your caravan; clean rainwater has been harvested from a new roof into a new tank but cannot guarantee this to be safe drinking water. Camp fires are permitted within the CFA rules which means that a camp fire is allowed for cooking and / or comfort purposes - providing that a total fire ban has not been declared. Please keep camp fires small and well contained. Pets are welcome but must be kept on a leash at all times to protect the native wildlife.

Peaceful, plenty of space, close to the water. Locating the entry is a little bit of fun but once in there is plenty of space. We were also able to get a contact in Rushworth who supplied us with firewood at a great price. Definitely recommend staying here

Almost Magical!
We stayed for 4 nights over the Easter weekend. All other campers were mindful of space so we were no where near anyone. The lake and flushing toilets are only a 2 minute drive down the road, there was also a bin to dispose of our rubbish at the end of our time. The stars are absolutely magical! It was so calm and quiet and exactly what we were after, after being used to crowded free campsite this was an absolute breath of fresh air.

Really simple basic paddock camping. Great views of the Basin depending on where you set up. Phil's communication was clear and easy to follow. The boat ramp is a short drive away and had public toilets. We took advantage of the nearby rail trail for bike rides as well. Kangaroos absolutely everywhere, native birds as well, and even pelicans and swans on the Basin. Was pretty windy on occasion and apparently that's common, so just be prepared for that.

Wonderful, peaceful stay!
We loved just setting up in the paddock with no one else around. The ability to chill out and relax in a peaceful area was amazing. The walk down to the lake was great and a beautiful spot to be. ☺️

Great location with plenty of camp spots you can choose from. Plenty of wild kangaroos roaming the property. Boat ramp is less then 5 minutes away which also has public toilets.

Recharge Off Grid!
We had a ball at Phil’s land. The kids were riding their motorbikes for hours every day and I got to relax while I watched them. Loads of kangaroos in sight throughout the entire day which was beautiful to see. The Waranga Basin is in view but could not fish off the bank or camp along the water as it was fenced off and I believe that is council land. The location was easy to find with the directions provided but sites were hard to find as they weren’t marked out. No Vodafone phone reception but had some Optus reception. The basin was only a few minutes up the road with a boat ramp. We launched the boat there and hung out for one of the days, fishing and knee boarding/biscuit. The basin is absolutely beautiful and huge. Phil was fantastic to deal with and replied to all my questions promptly. Would definitely go back for another great off grid weekend.
