Welcome to our quiet, peaceful bush retreat in Anakie - home to kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas, and many possum species. Whether you're here for bushwalking, gold-panning, bike riding, wineries or just to escape, you'll find it at all. We're 6km from Del Rios Winery - MAGNIFICENT- and about the same from Fairy Park. Anakie Gorge isn't much further, and the You Yangs are about 15 minutes drive away. The historic township of Steiglitz is only 5 minutes drive away the opposite direction down De Motts Road. You'll find nice bushwalks here too. Austin's winery is also only 15mins away. The Great Ocean Road is 45mins drive away. We have a number of campsites, where we welcome self-contained campers, so you must have your own camp loo and take all waste with you. We also have a lovely cottage which can be found on G maps and HeirBnB, for those who would like a little extra comfort. Campfires can be lit during non-fire-ban periods (winter), using our abundance of firewood. When you arrive, the driveway splits, and you can go right, following the post and rail fence past the enclosed veggie patch, between the chook shed to the site next to the water tanks. Or, follow the steep 4x4 road (we've taken our 2WD REAR wheel wheel drive cars down without a problem, but front wheel drive cars really struggle coming back up) down to the dam, and turn left up the valley to pitch a tent anywhere you like. Just don't block the road through because we use it too. You can walk all the way up the valley, back up to the driveway. Oreo (Red Kelpie, 8) and Stitch (Whippet x Kelpie, 3) will find you at some stage when you're setting up or visiting the Chooks up near the house. Our Alpacas don't like dogs, and are wary of little kids on their own if you go in to their paddock to pat them, so please be mindful. You're better off staying out of their paddock. They're also fairly fussy eaters, but you're welcome to feed them!Welcome to our quiet, peaceful bush retreat - home to koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas, and many possum species. Whether you're here for bushwalking, gold-panning, bike riding, wineries or just to escape, you'll find it at all. We're 6km from Del Rios Winery - MAGNIFICENT- and about the same from Fairy Park. Anakie Gorge isn't much further, and the You Yangs are 20 minutes drive away.  The historic township of Steiglitz is only 5 minutes drive away the opposite direction down De Motts Road. You'll find nice bushwalks here too. Austin's winery (also spectacular) is 17 mins (20km) away. The Great Ocean Road is 45mins drive away.  We only offer a few camping sites, so there is plenty of space to find privacy. Important to note, you must be self-contained with your own camp loo and take all waste with you.  Campfires can be lit only during non-fire-ban periods (basically winter), using firewood you need to cut for yourself. Please don't burn the stump seats next to the dam. No fires from 24th December 2023 until May 2024. Option 1 for 2WD cars (white W/C in pictures): When you arrive, you can camp just inside the gates to the right. Follow the '2WD camp site 1' sign - you can drive in and the site is quite flat. You can also walk in from 2 car park spaces about 20m up the driveway next to the sign for the toilet. Heavy Caravans are limited to the cleared area at the front, not far from the road and next to our driveway. Pop top / light campervans have been fine getting up and down the steep 4x4 track to the dam. Further down, the driveway splits at the giant Lego flowers. Follow the '4x4 Camping' sign Left, past the little top dam. Option 2: (2WD cars) Follow the road to the dam until just before it gets steep where you'll see a sign saying "4x4 only past this point" (opposite the shed with green firewood in it. Please don't use this wood either). You can park off the road on the left and walk down towards the grass trees. It's not a big flat area, but it's nice. Option 2, 4x4 & AWD only: 2WD cars park up the top (as described above) and walk down. Camper trailers & caravans that are light enough to make it back up the hill with a very capable 4x4 have been alright. Once you're at the dam, turn left up the valley to camp anywhere you like. There is a spot opposite the log cabin toilet block, and two more clearings further up the valley. Just don't block the road through because we use it too. You can walk all the way up the valley, back up to the driveway.  Oreo (Red Kelpie, 9) and Stitch (Whippet x Kelpie, 3) will find you at some stage (if we're home & they're out) when you're setting up or visiting the Chooks and Alpacas.  Our Alpacas don't like dogs, and are wary of little kids on their own, so don't go in there with them. They're also fairly fussy/timid eaters, but you're welcome to feed the.! They generally don't spit at you, just at each other when there's food involved. It's not uncommon to get caught in the cross-fire though 🤮 Grace, the grey one, is feisty- she's the most confident and will approach you to suss you out. She might let you pat her back. We have LOTS of possums - HEAPS of Sugar gliders and big Brushtails. If you sit quietly as dusk you'll see and hear them flying over you. We regularly hear koalas grunting too - they're difficult to spot but there are quite a few around. We have a lot of Kangaroos and Wallabies, and also a lot of Echidnas. We've never seen one, but apparently there are Quolls too. Wheel chair access (big wheels because of no sealed paths yet sorry): We're on very steep terrain; Once you're in the valley, you can get yourself around (speaking from experience). There are no sealed paths, but there are also no steps. I've built a universally accessible toilet in the valley. It's the log cabin style building, up from the dam.

We loved camping on Dan and Greg's property. It was secluded, comfortable and such a nice place to relax. Dan and Greg were so welcoming and incredibly helpful The dam is beautiful and we saw lots of wildlife. We'll definitely be back!

Good Times Always
This was my second time at Dan & Greg's property and it has delivered both times. One of the most tranquil Hipcamps which has been perfect for switching off and enjoying the sounds of nature. They both came and said hi to me and they're extremely lovely and accommodating people. Highly recommend

This off-grid camping experience was fantastic! Daniel and his partner were fantastic hosts, they gave us fresh eggs from their chickens and invited us to chat around their bond fire. The campsite was private and surrounded by nature. It is 4x4 access only if you need to bring a vehicle, however if you don't have a 4x4 don't worry! You can simply park up by the main property and walk down to pitch a tent.
