Site 3 - Old Stone House Museum, NEK, VT
Bucolic Setting
Absolutely gorgeous farmland setting in historic village. The Museum was fascinating and the staff super nice and welcoming. There are portable toilets on site, water and a picnic table. Very quiet at night. Would love to return.

The Old Stone House Museum was a beautiful place to camp. I enjoyed the viewing tower and being near a field of horses and cows. It wasn't too loud and was about 20 minutes from Lake Willoughby. Neat place.

Just imagine...
The horse and cow in a neighboring field, Amish families on foot or in buggies, historic buildings and generally quiet setting---there were moments when one could easily imagine being transported to a romantic version of life in an earlier time, even while knowing the reality was often quite different. And the guides and volunteers were all very nice. Highly recommend.

A relaxing site close to nature
The sites offered at the Old Stone House Museum are just perfect. Molly was available to answer our questions and the whole team is very friendly. We had the chance to enjoy two sunny days of hiking and museum visit.

Pure genuine camping experience
Molly is an perfect, incredible host, very fiendly, kind and generous. Guided tour of the museum and dormatory included but I recommend giving a donation. In my opinion, this is a pure genuine camping experience at its very best. We took Site 3 which is a nice quiet spot, on grass, in a field on a small hill with a view on the cow and horse fields below. No mosquitoes nor evil flies whatsoever. Access to good and fresh water (spigot) and dumpster. An easy nature trail (approx. 2-3km) surrounds the historic village. On Saturday, must go to the Miller's Amish baked food kiosk, 10 min from the campsite (for the strawberry pie and delicious goodies) and farmers market in Newport (delicious BBQ stand ). In Newport, the thai restaurant is very good. A free dump station is also located in Newport. The campsite gives you easy access to Willoughby forest trailheads (10-20 min). Great, great thank you to Molly and Tilly. We had such a fantastic time. I even recommended Old stone house to my co-workers

A beautiful spot to camp. There is a loosely fenced area that can be used for a tent. I chose to camp in the grass lot by my car. It looks like bathrooms are only accessible when the museum is open. It was closed the day I was there, but there's a Walmart about 20 minutes away. I enjoyed the walking path as well. There is a trash can by the trail, and I had decent mobile service (AT&T). The roads in Northern Vermont, though, leave much to be desired (not the host's fault of course).
