Camp Discovery is a 40 acre family-ran campground located about 70 miles northeast of Dallas, Texas. As you drive through the gates into our land you instantly feel transported to a place of peace. Our marked road leads you through juniper trees, wild deer (and sometimes boar), open land straight to your chic glamping tent. Take an easy hike through our land. Make a special dinner or have a picnic on our custom made farm tables. Book a private yoga class, soundbath session, cacao ceremony (depends on availability) on our suspended yoga deck.

Texas Safari Camp

Welcome to Texas Safari Camp

Escape the stresses of city living on this heavily wooded 31 acre pristine wildlife habitat. Relax your body, refresh your mind, heart and spirit. Only one hour east of Dallas but it feels like another world. This piece of east Texas paradise is 20 minutes from Buc-ee's, restaurants, grocery stores and about 25 minutes from Canton First Monday. 

We offer a much more personal experience than any State Park. Your host is Randall Oliver, a woodworking artist whose energy, creative vision and love of the outdoors have transformed this property into the jewel that it is. He has been organizing group campouts for 30 years and enjoys hosting, bringing people together and inspiring a passion for the outdoors. Everyone is sincerely welcomed regardless of race, religion, color, creed or sexual orientation. Randall enjoys sitting around the campfire with his guests, sharing stories, laughter and good will. He can teach your kids how to build a campfire and paddle a kayak. This property is his back yard and the people who camp here are treated like family. 

At the end of a one lane rock road- this is a very secluded, QUIET and safe property. It is perfect for tent campers (sorry no RV's) with abundant clean, flat tent sites. It's positive vibe attracts good people (including a lot of first time campers) and is more peaceful and relaxing than most state parks. It is next to a 950 acre wildlife park. The Texas Zoofari Park has 900 exotic animals, many can be seen from the road (or you can pay to drive through). This can make for some interesting wildlife noises while sitting around a campfire. While it adjoins the wildlife park on two sides, Texas Safari Camp is in no way affiliated with Texas Zoofari Park. 

This is an environmentally important property. This is part of the largest virgin, old-growth forest in Kaufman county. The only clearing has been done around the ponds.  No hunting is allowed. It has never been in ag use and all of the native brush and cover has been left to benefit the wildlife.   

Imagine two ponds in the middle of a forest.  Enjoy swimming and kayaking in the clear water front pond. Kayaks and paddleboards are available on request. Both ponds are stocked with bass, cat, crappie and bluegill. You can hike the jungle trail back to a peaceful, secluded seating and hammock area we call Heaven. 

There is plenty of room for camping around the front pond and four established communal fire pits. You can camp on the front berm for an elevated view of the property. The back pond has two camping areas with firepits. Deep in the jungle, it offers a higher degree of seclusion but it is farther from the parking areas and outhouses. 

There are no preassigned campsites- it is first come first serve. Camping is $22 per person per night. Kids 12 and under are $12.00 per kid per night. Day visits are $12 each for kids and adults, payable in cash upon arrival. Friendly, non barking and leashed dogs are allowed for free. Most people camp around the front pond but you can camp anywhere. Campfires are restricted to the existing fire rings. 

There is a rustic outhouse with a modern, ventilated composting toilet and sink and a hummingbird window touch of class. Water and electricity is available behind my home as well as an open air cold water shower.   

The hand crafted Hummingbird Treehouse has leaded glass windows, screened operable windows and a  loft sleeping area with an operable porthole window. It overlooks the front pond and features a full size bed, lights and outdoor tables and chairs. Bring your own sleeping bags to enjoy this comfortable and classy alternative to tent camping. It rents for  $80 per night for two people. No food, smoking or pets are allowed in the tree house.

Texas Safari Camp Rules

There are no specific site reservations so it’s first come, first served. Tent camping only- no vehicles allowed on the property. Off road wagons are provided for hauling your gear back to camp. Front pond camping areas are 30-100 yards from the two parking areas. Wagons must be returned to parking area after being unloaded.

Careful, humane catch and release fishing only in the two ponds and only single, barbless hooks are allowed.

There is some split firewood and you can gather and burn sticks off the ground. Bring your own firewood is case we are running low. No chainsaws, no cutting, carving or harvesting wood from trees. All garbage (including food scraps) must be packed out. No burning of garbage. 

Parents of non swimming children must provide a personal flotation device (PFD /  life jacket) and personally supervise their swimming. No sun block or insect repellent can be used by swimmers.

 

All forms of hunting, guns, bow and arrows, bb guns, slingshots and weapons of any kind are forbidden.

  

No electronic music is allowed (without ear buds), acoustic music is allowed but there is a 10pm to 8am curfew for noise. 

Campers must be respectful of the property and other campers. Auto alarms must be disabled. Loud, vulgar and drunken behavior, fireworks, generators or anything that disrupts the peace and tranquility of the property is forbidden. Property has minimal cellular service.

The Indigo Hills Prairie & Wildflow

The very best native blackland prairie known to exist in the world. The prairie is surrounded by trees with plenty of shade for camping. If you get hot, take a swim in the spring fed pond that has cool water currents in certain spots. Or take the kids fishing off the fishing pier, and if they don't catch one, I'll give your money back. Come see us,  enjoy nature and have fun.

A Little Piece of Paradise

A little piece of paradise, a place near the sky to breathe fresh air, hear the birds sing, fish if you like fishing, enough space to walk among the trees and enjoy nature, if you are lucky you will see the deer or wild pigs .

We have deer during the season, wild hogs, a temporary river, creek, several ponds to fish, area to to ride ATVs, many trees, plus we are working in developing for more activities in the future

From Caddo Indians, pioneers, homesteaders, this land has seen it all.  Now it is a ranch with an event venue, horses, farm animals, trails, fishing ponds and camping. We have two on site RV's, and event venue, with 3 private bathrooms with showers, a club bar, catering kitchen and so much more!  Perfect for the family that has a "glamper" and those who want to "rough it".  Big enough to handle family reunions, weddings and parties yet .. big enough to give you the privacy you seek!  Contact us for special events.  Close by are the towns of Mt pleasant, Daingerfield and Pittsburg.  All have downtown areas with boutiques, antique and second hand shops to visit.  There are several museums in the area including the Mid America Flight Museum - a private museum of 60 vintage airplanes in flyable condition.  In pittsburg there is the Ezekial aircraft and local history museum.  also within 20 miles are major likes for water sports and sport fishing beyond our own famous "Catfish pond".

Growing up I liked to camp and still do and I want to offer my land as a place for you to do the same.

Accessibility is by bridge or make arrangements for your vehicle to be at the campsite.

We have all the items you need for a successful camping experience.

Throw your necessities in the back of the Kawasaki mule and enjoy a short ride to the hideout or drive to the campsite for a truly memorable campout.

Geared towards camping with kids, you can take a short hike and see the grave of a Texas Ranger. 

Sit by a wood fire and enjoy smores.

Swing in one of the two swings, play horseshoes, corn hole, and take a backroad trip and view local wildlife.
For you fisherman,  enjoy the newly stocked lake and catch some bass. Catch and release.

Sit on the porch and rock in a rocker and read.

Retreat at Rapha’s Rest

The retreat at RAPHA’s REST offers 5 Cabins and 3 Private Rooms remotely located in the piney woods of East Texas.  It was created especially for time w/Father-God with 42 acres to hike, walk and pray + cozy Cabins or Rooms for sojourners seeking healing REST and RESTORATION before continuing on their journey! 

In addition to 42 acres to explore & your own private deck, relax on large Retreat Center Pool Deck - also perfect for group gatherings when using multiple cabins. A hot tub and fire-pit is perfect for enjoying those cooler evenings.  Multiple yard games including corn-hole, frisbee golf (1 basket), horseshoes, etc! Summer evenings can bring a bat show over the newly dug 2acre pond.

HIKING:  There are 42 tree'd acres to hike, pray, and explore. You will need good shoes for exploring/walking, especially when wet.

POOL:  Open 8am-10pm so BRING SWIM SUITS!!  Kids love it but it was designed around adults:  Pool features Waterfall, Hot Tub, and Tanning ledge.   BEACH TOWELS provided, but you may want to bring a robe/flip flops for walking back to room or cabin.  Please be respectful of other guests sharing.

HOT TUB:  DUE TO RISING COST OF PROPANE, use 1x FREE/day. Each additional use = $15 DONATION.  [Once temperatures drop below 50 degrees, each use $15].  We ask that once you request a time, you arrive at requested time.  After NO SHOW of 10 MINUTES, we have to cut it off.  (We understand delays happen, but you may not be fond of cold showers if propane is depleted!)

Glamp in total comfort in a shipping container cabin! No need to rough it! Cabin has comfy beds (sleeps 5), full kitchen and full bathroom. You’ll have AC / Heat, hot water, shower, even an oven if you want to bake! Lots of open space. 18 acres with pasture areas and mature trees! We also rent tents to accommodate 15 more, optional.

Steel Owl Camp consists of 1 cabin and 3 optional tents (fully assembled 5-6 person 12’x10’x8’ all-weather tents - $50 per tent - each with electricity, and its own heater and lantern. You can also bring your own.) The property is 18 acres - entire property included in your booking. The entire property can host up to a group of 20 if the cabin and all 3 tents are utilized. Steel Owl Camp offers a quiet and cozy space - no crowds or noise.

Bring your mountain bike or take a relaxing walk on the historic "Chaparral Rail Trail" which runs along the rear of this property. Total trail is 35 miles. 

These are also available on-site or you can bring your own! Cornhole, bocce, washer toss, badminton, volleyball, lawn darts, horseshoes, several beach balls (we use these for easy volleyball).

City benefits are only a few minutes away. Located in Wolfe City - sits between Leonard and Wolfe City centers - each is 10 minutes away. 20 minutes from Texas AM-Commerce; Walmart; restaurants. 45 minutes from Mckinney. Jim Chapman Lake, Bois D'Arc Lake, and Lake Bonham are within a 45 minute drive.

The PARK at Brushy Creek

Cozy Bell tent located just outside of Trenton on 55 acres of sloping terrain with a wide creek and acreage beyond the Big Oak for exploring. 

Beautiful sunsets, a clear view of the night sky, a calming creek and an occasional visiting deer make for a relaxing stay.

The property is in transition as we are in the process of creating manicured groves and open pasture areas for the enjoyment of our farm animals and guests so expect mud when it rains and an occasional heavy equipment or tractor siting.  

We rotational graze our livestock between our two properties so they are not always on site.  If they are not at The PARK at Brushy Creek, we invite you to come see them at the property with the big green gate across the road.

There is no electric or wi-fi on property currently. All lighting is solar, or battery powered.  There is water spigot at tent site and a Port-o-let near the tent area.

This is the Country we and our neighbors have livestock and dogs that may bleat, bark, oink, moo, neigh, squeal, whinny, bray, or whine anytime day or night.  

We are located 1-hour North of  Dallas Fort Worth, 30 minutes from McKinney, Sherman, or Greenville, 10 miles to Leonard, Whitewright, and Bonham and just five miles from Trenton.

Two lakes are in close proximity, Lake Bonham and Lake Texoma.  Coming soon two more lakes!: Bois' d Arc Lake and Lake Ray Hall

I4 acres with spring-fed creek,  just a few minutes from Lindale restaurants and supplies.  For more info about the tiny house or yurt rentals, please inquire.   It has extended acreage with multiple ecosystems.  I just found a spring and will be doing livestock.  I just built an outdoor kitchen area and camp shower (need propane tank).  There is an RV plug, electricity, and a water hose.

There is a garage on the property that should remain locked; if you have an ATV or something you want to lock up, we can discuss garage access if need be (for a fee).  

You will need 4-wheel drive for the lower parts of the property, but the top has water and electricity, and any car will be fine. 

As this is an outdoor area, there are poisonous bugs and snakes.  I have never had a problem, but this is notice that you agree to assume all liability and responsibility for your party by camping at this property.

Double D Ranch Guest Cottage

We hope you find everything you need for your home away from home stay. The WIFI password is listed in the cabin and the gate code and house code will be given to upon confirmation of your booking. Once inside you will find remotes for AC/HEATER, TV, and small fireplace...remotes are in a metal container to the left of the sofa sleeper. The bedding for the twin sleeper is in a bin under the queen bed along with additional towels in the bottom drawer of the dresser. The dresser is labeled with additional supplies. The cottage is stocked with snacks, water, coffee, toiletries and complimentary wine. There is a first aid kit and fire extinguisher in the bathroom. There is a can outside in the front to the right of the door that has snacks for the cows. You are welcome to go into the pasture where the cows visit but please only feed on this side of the fence, not inside the pasture. You may roam the 8 acres but our property line ends halfway of the pond. There will be an open gate for cows to visit to and from, but on the other side of the gate is not our property. You have access to the dock and fit pit with wood and starter. Please enjoy! You may fish if you like and will need your own fishing gear. You have access to the main house patio where you are welcome to use the grill, table, sink and the fireplace. However if freezing temperatures, the water will be turned off in the outdoor sink.

Good Earth Organic Farm

We are a 175 acre family-owned Organic farm in North Texas. We focus on sustainability in our agricultural practices as well as in our daily lives. We live off the food and sales of the food the land provides. We have the highest respect for Mother Nature and expect ALL who stay out here to treat Nature with respect. We have been a certified Organic Farm for the past 31 years.Learn more about this land:The camp sites are located on  Good Earth Organic Farm and offers beautiful views of pastures, a 5 acre pond, and our farm.  There is another area away from the pond next to some woods, You are welcome to walk to the lake and fish The campground is secluded from the road and other houses and offers a peaceful vibe. Camp sites are all different and spaced from 300 to 1500 feet from each other. Trees include willow, bald cypress, oak, etc. This is a working farm with live stock so please no dogs, We currently have a composting toilet located near the campground. Fishing is allowed.  For a small fee  we will cut up some wood for your fire. Peaceful, cleaner air and if the are no clouds you can see lots of stars. Come out and enjoy our farm.

The dock is super cute - fishing poles, a canoe/oar, and relaxing lounge spots! 

Land Of OZ

Land Of OZ is a place of peace and beauty. If you love the sun shine through the trees and beautiful pond surrounded by nature this is the place for you to come. Active chicken coop and garden. This is where we are now but I would love to have your input while here on how to make it a great place for all to enjoy.

Land of Oz! Sidewalk around one pond with bate fishing and a nice dock to sit and enjoy the surrounding beauty of towering trees. A bit of heaven.  There are several camp sites and room for 5 RV parking  hook up water and electric only. Peace and quite with the beautiful trees and ponds

Chickens, roosters, and ducks roam the farm. 

This was our favorite swing. It had bells that sound like a windchime, and it's next to a garden bed that will probably be really pretty during growing season!

You can pitch your tent anywhere you like, but this was our favorite spot. By the pond, surrounded by a creek, tucked into the trees. Felt very secluded, but was still pretty close to the amenities.
