Welcome to our quiet and beautiful piece of land in the middle of Texas Blackland Prairie. We are located 5 minutes from the San Marcos River and all the tubing businesses galore!
Our property sits in the middle of farms with a great view of the open sky. It's a great place to kick back and relax with plenty of privacy. If you plan to stay over the weekend you're welcome to take the quick three mile drive to downtown Martindale and enjoy free live music hosted by the local river cafe. There's also an awesome taco spot a mile down the road.
If you're curious about the surrounding towns and want to explore, we are 3 miles to Martindale, 6 miles to San Marcos, 14 miles to Lockhart, 23 miles to New Braunfels, 23 miles to Wimberley, and 30 miles to Austin. Texas Hill Country is your oyster!Welcome to our little slice of land surrounded by farms in the middle of Blackland Prairie. Enjoy the peace and quiet of being in the country with the luxury of being only a 15 minute drive from civilization. You are welcome to explore our small, but growing native plants garden and soon-to-be labyrinth.
We are located 5 minutes from the San Marcos River and tubing businesses like Don’s Fish Camp and Great Gonzo’s. Come on by and take a quick dip, then relax underneath the open night sky. You’re also welcome to visit Mystical Magical Martindale which is less than 3 miles away. Every Thursday - Saturday the Martindale River Cafe hosts free live music under the stars in the green space downtown. You may also find the local grocery joint, Good Things Grocery and great Mexican food at Hermano’s.
Our property is centrally located if you’re interested in exploring the area. Downtown San Marcos is 6 miles away, Lockhart is 15 miles, both New Braunfels and Wimberley are 23 miles, and Austin is 34 miles.
The site itself is located on our 1.5 acre property. You will have a view of our house and shop. Our property has cell reception but we do not offer wifi at this time so please plan ahead. There is no access to potable water so you must BYO. This site is leave no trace and we ask that you pack out any trash or waste you bring to the site. There is a trash can available but we ask that you do not overfill it. Please keep in mind that we do not have a toilet, so please keep your business in your RV.
We get many critter visitors throughout the day so please be mindful of them. Our property is great for bird watching! There are raptor birds everywhere such as Cara Caras, Red-Tailed and Red-Shouldered Hawks, Buzzards, and Falcons. We have a family of barn swallows that live on the house and eat bugs all day long. They're often joined by flycatchers. We’ve even had a roosting wild turkey visit us! Right around dusk we welcome our bat friends who love to eat all the yummy bugs (they will swoop low sometimes but don’t be afraid!). We also get many visitors overnight. We’ve seen coyotes, dogs, skunks, deer, opossums, toads, gray foxes, among many others. We ask you to be mindful of our wild friends and appreciate all they do for us.
We have also had the pleasure of seeing many meteor showers, such as the Perseids, Draconids, Orionids, and others! We do get *some* light pollution from the San Marcos airport, but not enough to completely blind the sky from star-gazing at night.
