This land is pristine desert land north of Presidio, TX
Don't forget you are in the desert. There are snakes, scorpions, tarantulas, coyotes, javelinas and perhaps mountain lions. But don't worry, most people will never see most of the animals. But just be mindful and use a flashlight at night if you are walking around.
You are responsible for your own water, food, cooking equipment, toilet paper and trash. If you need to use the bathroom, please dig a small hole and then cover it.
There is a camping zone with a palm tree shade structure, a pizza oven, a wooden standing height table and a fire pit with some rustic seating. If you want to explore, please take your shoes off and be respectful of the space. It is meant for meditation, yoga and tea. Please no food or drinks that may stain the wood.
We have heard from guests that the bird watching on the property is excellent. I'm not an enthusiast yet... maybe you can help me learn which birds are on the property. I see hawks sitting on ocotillos a lot, that's the extent of my knowledge :)
We are 2.5 miles off the highway in the middle of the desert. We have one neighbor who may drive by and they are friendly. Otherwise your neighbors are birds, jack rabbits and you may hear some javelinas at night and strange lights off in the distance. But they are just cars on distant highways... we think. If you are looking for wide open desert and 360 degree mountain views, you will love this campsite. We have a shade structure, a brick pizza oven, a fire pit, a table, a compost toilet and a teahouse. If you want to explore, please take your shoes off and be respectful of the space. It is meant for meditation, yoga and tea. Please no food or drinks.
I am available occasionally to offer tea at the teahouse. If you are interested please reach out to me when you book and I can tell you the details.
There is also a triangular building with a compost toilet. Please use it and pour some sawdust on afterwards. Please refrain from peeing if you can to keep the smell down.
We have heard from guests that the bird watching on the property is excellent. You will be in the perfect location to access some of the lesser known but fascinating parts of the big bend region. You are 20 minutes from a true ghost town: Shafter. You are 20 minutes from Presidio/Ojinaga should you need supplies or a meal. You are about 45 minutes from Big Bend Ranch State Park and the Rio Grande for hiking, swimming and biking. You are about a 50 minute drive to Marfa if you want to see art and have some fancy meals. All of the drives in this area are gorgeous and remote.
