****Recent Update**** Due to new adjacent properties developments, and new neighbors moving in nearby, there are occasional neighboring barking, music and gunshots that can be heard from the distance, which is pretty common out in the countryside here. *************************************************************************************** There is currently a group of 10 people who spend the majority of our time living and striving to create community on these 85 beautiful acres of land. Our goals are to establish a thriving community, grow most of our own food, build tiny houses to rent or sell, create sustainability and be as self sufficient as possible, salvage material for builds, host events and retreats, teach classes, and more. Please feel free to ask questions and share any interest you may have in what we are doing here. Our property is a densely forested 85 acres with a walk-able 2 miles around the perimeter of the property and many trails and hidden nooks to explore throughout the heart of this beautiful escape back to our natural roots. We are in the process of mapping out the trails- which we plan to make available soon! For now those of you with a sense of adventure and desire to explore will certainly be satisfied. We have a full acre size pond and a kayak that you can feel free to use. There is a communal area around the pond that we will be adding to in the near future- you may run into some of our community members or other campers there from time to time, we invite you to socialize, bring a chair, perhaps a beverage or snack and get to know each other and us as well if we cross paths! You will observe and encounter wildlife in abundance including a variety of birds, wild hogs, opossums, armadillo, moles, spiders, scorpions, butterflies, praying mantis, walking sticks, snakes- keep an eye out for rattlesnakes and copperheads, deer, many insects, and more. Please be cautious and treat these creatures' home with respect for them as well as yourselves. Our property is also home to some lovely cows, chickens, a few dogs, and several cats- they (other than the cows who do what they please) generally remain in areas away from our camp sites though they may still decide to stop by to say hello! We have many spaces available for camping throughout the property. These are primitive campsites on raw land so you will need to provide your own tent, water, food, and operate with a leave no trace mentality when camping here. There are areas that can accommodate large groups of campers as well as very secluded nooks if you are looking for a private retreat into nature. There is plenty of fallen wood available for firewood and a fire pit will be prepared for you before arrival!

Take a deep breath and leave the stresses of the outside world behind as you step into the forest to follow the tranquil pathway through the trees to the cabin. The Crescent Oak is wonderfully placed among the privacy of the trees and only a minutes walk from the property pond.This enchanting get away cabin is the work and artistry of one of our talented community members. Created with 90% salvaged material and utilizing fallen trees and branches from the trees it sits among, you can't help but feel the consciousness and care that imbued it's birth. From inside the cabin you will be able to fully enjoy the way the space invites the outside in while fully enclosed by protective mosquito screening. You have several options for privacy and protection from the elements with two separate canvas layers you can tie back for the view or let down. The space is thoughtfully equipped with a full size fold away mattress and coffee table to allow versatility and extra room when not using the bed. This off-grid gem even offers enough power to run the light and small fan inside, as well as a place to charge your phone. Cook your dinner over the nearby fire-pit, take the kayak for a spin across the pond, spend some time star gazing, listen to the orchestra of nature, and steal yourself a few moments of peace. To start the pond is now a mud puddle. There's not much to do since in any direction you walk there's threatening dogs. Although the noise was disclosed the constant dogs, roosters, cars and some gun shots close to campsite 2 was surprising. It was fun and nice to relax at the camp despite the let downs.

Loved the tent, very whimsical. We enjoyed our stay and Jerry was very nice! Within miles of stores, restaurants, and shopping. Highly recommend checking it out!

I enjoyed trying out a new place; however, was very much surprised at how loud it actually was and how close we were to other people for a primitive site. Only stayed one night out of the two that I paid for.

Nice set up. Structure was very unique. Screened-in, earthy decor, and nice tripod for cooking on the fire. We mostly just hung out at the campsite for the night- enjoying the fire, cooking our dinner, and being under the solar powered tree lights.

Fun day trip, we enjoyed the campsite and we ordered the cooking grill and extra firewood which helped a lot. Unfortunately, we could not stay due to neighbors barking continuously which in turn made our dogs bark. The weather also took a turn and it got extremely cold. The tent offers a small fan but nothing for heating. We had only blankets and hand warmers and it still wasn't enough. We wish we could of stayed but it wasn't comfortable due to the noise and cold. The bed is very hard to get up and off so make sure you have good knees. It's a beautiful campsite and appreciate the opportunity to spend time there. We overall enjoyed it a lot !!!

We had SUCH an amazing time here. The cabin was so peaceful and we loved the firepit and solar lights. The added bonus was the amazing little pond with kayaks. Our two dogs came and I haven’t seen them have this much fun in a long time. We will absolutely return again for a relaxing getaway

Great location for primitive camping. Clean toilet area and greet outdoor retreat w screens to let nature sounds and air in. There is a small pond but not a place to swim so be aware if you’re coming in the Summer and bring plenty of water or items to keep you cool. The camp is well shaded and private off the beaten path. Serene and tranquil.

Off-grid mini get-a-way
The Crescent Oak Nature Cabin
Off-grid mini get-a-way. Perfect if you're comfortable camping already, and in Texas heat! and you just want a little ease to your set-up / stay. Loved the little cabin with its layers of wood sliding panels and screens. I kept the sliding panels open the whole stay for airflow & the lovely views of the trees & wildflowers around. The fan and twinkle lights were great (powered by a mini solar panel and battery). You do have to overlook the mess of an unfinished cabin / abandoned site on your way in, and plastic furniture which seems out of place given the cute cabin. There were 2 other camp sites nearby, which would have been a bit close for my comfort, however they were not occupied during my stay. Yes, there was some dog barking, music playing, gunshots, trains, etc. in the neighborhood, but not constantly. I actually enjoyed hearing the music in the distance. The neighborly noise was quiet by 9pm. If you're a light sleeper however, the train will probably wake you up, it passed through 3-4 times with horns. I was on a solo trip and felt safe. And despite everything noted, the space was actually quite private and secluded feeling. I never encountered any other guests, hosts, or neighbors. NOTE: Be sure to request instructions on how to reach the camp prior to arrival, as they differed from what was listed. Jerry responded right away with the correct info. I had no trouble finding it.

I absolutely loved that little cabin. The noise of the train didn’t bother us at all! Great place to clear your head and relax, my fiancé and I had a amazing time.Definitely coming back.

We stayed in the cabin during a strong thunderstorm and stayed safe, dry, and cozy. Despite the weather, we had a blast and enjoyed the relaxing sound of the storm on the roof. The land is gorgeous with wildflowers, walking trails, and a pond with kayaks. We’d definitely visit again and recommend you stay here.

This is the neat spot. It's not as secluded as I thought but felt very private for the most part. There are some loud residents around the area but we didn't mind too much. It's a nice spot to just relax and cook over the fire. Make sure to bring your own blankets. I'm glad I gave it a try.

I loved camping at the nature cabin on Sarah’s land. I went solo with my cat and lil dog and it was a blast. The bathroom set up was nice and actually pleasant to use. Lots of land to explore. There was a little pond not far from my cabin to enjoy. There was a solar battery that charged my phone and powered lighting inside the cabin. I recommend getting the tripod for cooking. I little to no issues with bugs which was nice because I hate using bug spray. Lastly, there is a train nearby and dogs that like to do a lot of talking at night but being someone who doesn’t mind those sounds it didn’t bother me. Overall I wish I could just live there but I had to go back to my real world. Thank you for the experience!

We had a wonderful stay! I brought my dog and my two boys (1.5 yo and 3.5 yo). Sarah was very clear and communicative with check in and location instructions. Campsite 1 was tucked in the trees with just enough room for a 6 person tent, folding table, chairs, and fire. My boys loved exploring the perimeter trail! The train does come by every couple hours with a very loud horn, which was a little rough at night with my young kids (no kids probably wouldn’t have bothered me so much). There are also some sporadic barking dogs around. Other than that, it was quiet, beautiful, and just what we needed!

This is the second time camping out at the cabin, and it is still great! Me, my spouse, and 2 pit bulls love it here. Make sure you wear warm clothes and bring blankets lol, it’s cold at nights during this cold front, but warm up with blankets. The campfire is wonderful, and the views are wonderful. We tried to go fish next to the water but our rods weren’t prepared. My dogs loved all the freedom out there!

He had a very good time! We will definitely go back. The property is beautiful. We were able to catch a couple small sunfish in the pond it was a lot of fun! There were a few other campers but everyone was very respectful.

The campsite was exactly what we were looking for. The host's responded to all of our questions in a timely manner and were great the entire time. If your looking for a sequestered campsite I would highly recommend them.

Sarah had the perfect lot for tent camping! We were able to park close enough to the tent where we could easily grab stuff from the car but still had the feeling like we were in the middle of the woods. We cooked some amazing food using the tripod grill we borrowed. We ordered some fresh eggs that we never got which was a bummer but there’s a huge dollar general close by where we grabbed some along with some other stuff we forgot. There also aren’t any cows on the property but there are some really sweet dogs and some cows to look at from afar up the road. Overall I would absolutely camp there again or try out one of the other glamping sites on the property

Had a lovely time at the nature cabin. We enjoyed walking the property, hanging by the lake, making a fire and cooking dinner under the tree cover and stars with a symphony of crickets and wildlife. The lights and fan in the cabin were clutch, as well as the bed that folded out. The sliding doors were an awesome touch and the mosquito nets appreciated. We and our pups really enjoyed our time and look forward to coming back either to the nature cabin or for tent camping. We packed extra pillows and sleeping bags/blankets although those things were also thoughtfully provided. Truly a great stay!

A great little cabin that's like a perma-tent. Nice grill for over the open fire. There's a stock pond with fish in it and some hiking trails. Best part was that the dogs could run free and swim. Other reviews warn about loud neighbors but they were not bad at all and the other dogs on the property kept to themselves.

Great camp site! The compostable toilet was a great bonus. The property is beautiful and it was a nice retreat from the city. There were neighbors playing loud music but it wasn’t too much of a bother.

I liked the place. Trails could have been better taken care of. Loose dogs made it difficult to go hiking in most places. We caught a monster cat fish in the small pond though. The gas station / grocery store .5M away is awesome in case you left something at home or want a snack.

Beautiful night in a cool cabin

Ultimately we had a lovey time. The little cabin was perfect for sleeping. We were actually really impressed with the ingenuity behind the build. There’s also a little battery that kept the fan in the cabin going all night which was wonderful. It was perfectly quiet and right where we parked was a big clearing where we spent a few hours watching the stars. A few things that could have gone better and hopefully with this note will go better for you: - make sure the hosts see your booking and sends you a real message. We ended up nearly going back home because we couldn’t find anyone or the cabin at first. - don’t just go to the address on the listing. We did and nearly got stuck in mud (turns out there’s a back entrance) - bring your own fire wood. We ended up having to skip the fire because the wood they brought us was too wet too catch. (It had just rained so we understood and had our propane stove as a backup. Pretty minor issues for what was ultimately a perfect evening all things considered. Would definitely recommend if what you seek is your own little getaway in the woods.

Honestly the best campsite!!! I was very happy that the bathrooms were super close to the camp. The host stop bye and talked to us a bit, he felt like an old friend. Definitely going back 10/10

Campsite good except for gunshots

I enjoyed the cabin a lot and I especially loved how there was a little charging port with twinkle lights! felt like a fairytale. One thing I really disliked was how many gunshot I could hear during the day and through the night. As we were stargazing at night, we heard gunshots very close range around 11pm and could see the flashlights of those who were shooting. They was closer than anyone should be while discharging a weapon at night without any visibility. This scared everyone, including my dog who is terrified of the noise. This made everyone very upset and paranoid throughout the night.
