New Hope Farm is nestled in the hill country and located right off of the famous FM 4. Established in the late 1800’s this peaceful farm has had many different names and has been home to several different families. One of its owners in the 1980’s, was referred to as the “Alligator Lady.” She raised several alligators here for many years until a flood enabled them all to escape to nearby creeks and rivers. Needless to say, she was banned from continuing her alligator raising hobby. The structure she used to breed and raise her gators still stands, and is available for your viewing pleasure. Another family in the 1970’s adapted the hydroponic system. Utilizing this system successfully in the 70’s is quite impressive, for it was a rare and unknown horticulture of that time. Their commitment to hydroponics was fascinating. They built an entire enclosed structure with electricity. The walls were built from the soil and clay on the property. The remains of this structure still stands and is used as our garden today. Other families have planted fruit trees, housed quail, buffalo and horses, to mention a few. My husband and myself respect the history of this amazing property. From the moment we set foot on this farm we could feel it’s longing to be restored and become the thriving, giving farm it once was. Since our move here in 2018 we have began to restore the original farmhouse and the guest suite. We have revamped one of the old barns that is now available for weddings and events. We have completely committed ourselves to the revival and restoration of New Hope Farm. What a fun...yet sometimes stressful, honorable journey it has been for my husband and I. We welcome you to New Hope Farm and want to share with you the beauty, peace and new life our farm has to offer.
