Covering 5 acres within a much larger 1700 acre exotic wildlife refuge, cattle ranch and community and providing guests with private access to the Lampasas river without leaving the ranch, the Satau is set to make lasting and meaningful memories for you.

This well appointed and comfortable suite is the perfect retreat for family, couples and friends looking for something truly special.  Fully off grid - very private and quiet. 

This insulated, heated and air conditioned permanent tent is state of the art and sits 6' off the ground on a gorgeous 26'x48' deck providing serene views and a feeling of comfort and safety.

- Queen-size pullout sofa-bed- plenty of room for overland vehicles or tents on the property too 

-  Hot and cold purified rain water, 100% solar power, full bath with a large rain shower and large soaking tub in a custom optionally roofless restroom.

Immerse yourself with classic central Texas and exotic wildlife from around the world.  Park next your suite or take the short hike (300ft) through the property surrounded by juniper, elm, madrone, oak and pecan trees.  Cook with the in-tent induction stove top, bring your own small grill or cook over an open fire at the rock fire ring.  Don’t forget the stars are bright and big at night - especially at Lost Horizon!  Abundant exotic and native wildlife roams freely.  Go to sleep to the songs of coyotes and wake to the fervent birds and deer.

To be clear, the Satau suite is not right on the river - it is tucked away in a secluded valley.   You must drive approximately 2 miles to the private river front - no need to leave the ranch.   This creates great opportunities to experience the ranch's beauty and wildlife.

Lost Horizon is a unique safari hideaway to demonstrate how we can live sustainably and comfortably through the use of modern technology and permaculture. Keep in mind that because we are currently completely off grid, electricity is finite. To enhance the experience during extreme cold and hot weather, we will be connecting the power grid. 

Cancelation policy: If you cancel at least 3 days before your check in day and time, you’ll receive a full refund (minus Hipcamp fees). If you cancel within the 4 days before check in, there will be no refund.
