Amazing fossil site in a Cedar wood
Wonderful campground and RV site on a bed of fossils of the Cretaceous Glen Rose Formation, set in en elfin woodland of Eastern Red Cedars. Nice spring flowers in early April. Yuccas sending up stalks. Songbirds aplenty. We enjoyed collecting fossils, which are abundant. Erin is a kind, welcoming host, and she knows a great deal about the natural history of this region. We had a great experience.

Perfect for when we wanted to view the eclipse in totality. Highway noise is prevalent if there’s high traffic but that’s likely due to the eclipse occurring.
Host is extremely accommodating and even provided cedar firewood from trees on their land. Would absolutely recommend these campsite accommodations.

Great Location and host overall we stayed in our shuttle bus rv conversion and had no issues. It is close to the highway which is audible from your camp spot but convenient for last minute runs to H‑E‑B.

We lived this site! Erin was so kind and helped me with all my questionable and concerns and even when I got lost. She was so kind and helpful and went above and beyond what I expected! The site was great and there really are fossils every single step you take! The kids LOVED it and even had a secret "hideout" near the trees. It was a perfect stay!

Erin was great, met me outside and showed me to the site. She brought in a porta potty. And gave me some fire wood. Keep in mind it's a work in progress. I couldn't see the road or anything else. So it felt nice and secluded. Lots of road noise as it's pretty close to fm116. But it's not bad after 10pm. The cows were sure active at night. They make quite a bit of noise as well. Never knew they made such weird sounds. So if you're from the city, don't be alarmed. Overall it is a nice place. If you like primitive camping it's great. Grocery store ( HEB ) and Walmart are just a few miles away. HEB sells fire wood bundles. I would definitely stay there again. Happy camping !
