Backcountry camping and hiking is our first love. We find the simple set up to be the very best way to do the great outdoors and we adore those with that same chi. The east side parking area provides access to a footbridge across the creek and leads to the main trailhead. AT style trail blazes and postings direct campers to each private campsite.
RV sites 1-3, boat ramp and main parking area are located at the central entrance. Off-Road RV site #4 is located at the Back country camping entrance. Look for the yellow beaked bird (photos in description) as the visual aid directing car campers to the correct entrance at night for 1-3 and the Patriotic Fence Post for the back country tent camping entrance and access to the Off-Road RV site #4 (hiking trail access is there as well). Dry camping only for now. Septic, water, power, docks and canoes coming soon. The back country and hiking entrance is just past there with a red, white and blue fence post as the indicator there (photos also in description).
Our goal is to provide a peaceful retreat in the woods and have been intentional with placement of our campsites to achieve that experience. We want to offer our guests the option of a peaceful day on the water fishing, swimming or canoeing and the convenience of being minutes away from all that the Park has to offer.
* Campsite parking area gates are open 24 hours whenever campers are present.
Lazy acres is a private fishing lake and campground located 11 miles from exit 116 on interstate 40 in beautiful Chesterfield, Tennessee. The lake is stocked with hard fighting copper-nose bluegill and 3 varieties of largemouth bass. We have an abundance of wildlife including fox, turkey, racoon, otters, geese, ducks and even a resident piebald whitetail buck named lucky who enjoys hanging out by the levee.
There are 4 private RV for those with small RVs or wanting to dump, car, hammock and tent camp (or a combination of all 3) with plenty of parking at the main entrance for those with horse and ATV trailers. Fishing and lake access are no extra charge. Life jackets required for all boaters and fishing licenses for those with pole. The bluegill love crickets or rooster tails and the bass are partial to minnows on a bobber but white or black beetle spins are quite productive as well. Fishing license, live bait and tackle available at Anderson's Sporting Goods in nearby Lexington. We try to be available for the needs of our campers and respect your space and privacy unless needed. Shower houses, water fountains and canoe rentals coming soon!
