Secluded in the woods on the Cumberland Plateau in middle Tennessee, Long Fork derives its name from the 800 feet of frontage on the Long Fork Creek. Nestled in hardwood and pine forest, the property is ranges from relatively flat to gently sloping, with one steep trail leading up to a bluff that overlooks the creek. The camping area is next to the creek and it has two tent platforms, each with a fire ring, and the larger site has a park grill and picnic table. During the warmer months guests can take a dip in the swimming hole. Plenty of trails and acres to explore. Nearby are Fall Creek Falls State Park and Savage Gulf State Natural Area. Deer, wild turkeys, numerous bird species, as well as a variety of salamanders and fungi can be seen. There are an additional 5 acres across the bridge on Big Brush Creek which can also be explored.Long Fork Hide-a-way is a secluded, beautiful 7 acre private campground nestled in the middle of no-where on the Cumberland Plateau in Sequatchie County, TN. Sequatchie County, formed in 1857, was named for a Cherokee Chief; sequachee, from ᏏᏆ ᎤᏤᏥᏍᏘ which in Cherokee means 'opossum' or 'he grins.' The county seat is Dunlap, TN located about 12 miles south of Long Fork Hide-a-way (8 miles of paved state highway and 4 miles on a hard-packed logging road.) Long Fork Hide-a-way is not far from the Savage Gulf State Natural Area and Falls Creek Falls State Park, which boasts the highest waterfalls in the U.S. east of the Mississippi. Both areas are well known for great hiking. Sequatchie County is known as "The Hang Gliding Capital of the East", due in part to the presence of an active hang gliding association, the Tennessee Tree Toppers. This group maintains a hang gliding ramp at Henson's Gap, along the eastern wall of the Sequatchie Valley, just outside of Dunlap. I have created a mini "state" park but one where you will not be jammed up next to other campers. There will be no other campers nearby playing techno music at midnight on this piece of wilderness heaven - just you! The campground areas, surrounded by beautiful old trees, a hill and Long Fork Creek. The property features a lockable gated entrance, 2 tent platforms each with a fire ring, a grill, picnic table, benches, non-potable water, shower/changing stall and privy. After driving through the gate, there is a gravel driveway (50 yds) to the trail. Less than a 10 minute hike to the camping sites, you will find. two raised platforms (12 X 14 and 10 X 12) to get you off the ground, help to keep your tent(s) dry and reduce the odds of critters getting in. Each has a fire ring and sitting areas. As you approach the campsite you will notice the privy to the left and the "shower"/changing stall. The privy has a clear polycarbonate roof to keep it from being a scary dark place. There are also several solar lights to help find your way when nature calls. Toilet paper? There may be some in a one gallon paint can - not much. Bring enough for your stay. There is also a battery motion activated nightlight (you will need to install batteries - they should be in a ziplock beside the nightlight.) Please read and follow posted privy rules . Be sure to bring charcoal for the grill and dry kindling for the fire rings. Typically, pre-cut firewood is near the campsite, but it may be wet, so you are encouraged to bring your own kiln dried firewood.. There are faucets near the privy and the "shower stall" which are connected to rain barrels behind the privy. You will need to connect hose from rain barell to "water lines" (disconnect upon departure). The water is not potable, but it comes in handy for washing your hands and it's easier than dipping it out of the creek! There are buckets stored in the privy which will allow you to put out the campfire when you leave the campsite. Buckets are to be returned to privy upon departure. There is an interesting diversity of wildlife, from snails to deer and following rains a wide variety of mushrooms and ferns. Long Fork Creek is a beautiful creek bounding the property and includes a surprise gorgeous swimming hole! This beautiful 7 acres is bounded by the entrance road, the creek and a hill so it's ideal for exploring without the worry of getting lost. This truly a remote and beautiful property that will make you feel like the only people in the world. You won't want to leave! Here are some links to videos posted on Youtube. Copy and paste into your browser. https://youtu.be/RVCpQLGE2i4 https://youtu.be/iM1fAJtCARU https://youtu.be/TPUjMuTOG2Q After your reservation has been made, you will be provided with a 4 digit code which will allow you to open up the key box at the entrance. This key will open both the gate lock and the padlock on the privy door. You will also be provided with detailed directions to the property.

Long Fork Hide-a-Way
Beautiful site
Really a fantastic campsite! The creek runs right by the campsite and it’s carpeted in a pine needles… Very beautiful and I slept better than I had in months. It is a little walk to get to the site, so either pack light, or bring a wagon or cart.

Long Fork Hide-a-Way
Excellent location with tons of amminities. Far enough out of the way to be lulled to sleep by the creek rather than passing cars but close enough to hit up a dollar general if you forgot to pack something. Thomas was very helpful.
