This place has really gotten better over the past year. My girlfriend and I tried it for the first time last year and wasn’t impressed but found out that Bells had just been purchased by Jud. When we came back the second time, it was 100% nicer and the third time was this weekend. It just keeps getting better. The staff is welcoming and nice. We had follow up conversations to make sure we had everything we needed.
Very well manicured landscape. I really like the addition of the lights on the palms. I highly recommend Bells.

We stayed in Spot #11 - a nice, level, lakeside, pull-through campsite with electricity, water & dump available. It has a great view of Lake Marion, right across from the boat ramp.
This is a great place for families/groups that have both an RV & a boat. There's also a small suite of hotel rooms for non-campers.
Host Jud was *extremely* nice & is clearly committed to improving the property & making guests feel well taken care of.
One warning: they aren't currently set up for same-day bookers who arrive late. Jud's staff checks the HipCamp site once daily for bookings. They don't keep the app open all the time & might miss a late booking (like ours)! HipCamp's instant booking will give you a confirmation, directions & instructions. But the check-in is at a small store at the entrance & the store closes at 9 pm. If you arrive after 9 pm, there is a locked gate & (potentially) no response on the dial pad phone. Lucky for us, a friendly camper drove in behind us & let us through the gate. So all was well!
Jud's plans to rewrite his HipCamp description to avoid any late night/last minute booking confusion in the future. He really is a conscientious host!
One other note: Google maps' directions to individual sites is confusing. And it's hard to see the site #s if you arrive at night. Bring a flashlight! Jud's always improving things. My guess is that reflective #s will be installed before long!
Thanks for the nice visit!

Camping with Toddler
Really friendly staff.
Jud and partner were really hands on the property and accommodating. We booked a spot right on the water and when we got there realized it was too close to the water with having a toddler. They switched us to a spot that was farther from the lake, no problem!
Nice bathrooms/shower/laundry space.
Really easy to meet people and seems like a solid community at Bell’s Marina.
Thanks, great times!

Great waterfront stay!
We enjoyed our stay at Bell’s Marina! The best part was being so close to the waterfront and seeing all the egrets, cormorants, and herons! Jud is super nice and helped us get settled in and answered any questions. Just a heads up that sometimes the town internet was out, and our AT&T and Verizon hotspots were spotty. However, the wifi for the park worked well most of the time. We took a drive out to see the nearby Congaree National Park (an hour away) and Eutaw Springs Battlefield (just down the street). We also enjoyed Tuesday Taco buffet night at the nearby Chrissy’s Restaurant. Check in and out is through the store connected to the gas station. If you have some time, you might want to rent a kayak or paddleboat while you’re there. 😃

Lovely Lake Marion
We chose this campground for its convenient location close to I-95. This campground was full of little surprises and lots of friendly folks.
Our site was located close to Lake Marion (it’s a marina too) & had very pretty views of the water & changing leaves. The site was perfectly level. We were only staying one night, so was long enough to fit the entire length of our 32 foot travel trailer and king cab Silverado pickup tow vehicle, allowing us to skip unhooking. The site had water and electricity. The sewer hookup was under construction but soon to be completed.
There was a bath house with coin operated laundry within steps of our site.
The campground was peaceful & filled with a lot of “snowbird campers” & some permanent sites.
The camp/marina store/gas station/local diner building is huge, located right on the road. Easy to find, very convenient.
Our nicest surprise was Chrissy’s diner! It wasn’t fancy but boy was the food good & the staff friendly. We were there for wing night: eight different kinds of very nicely sized wings all for the taking for .50 cents a piece along with hot and crispy French fries. All of their entrees were very reasonably priced & were examples of down-home country cooking e.g., country fried steak with mashed potatoes, fried chicken, burgers... It was busy there, w/ both eat-in diners as well as doing a robust carry out business - always a good sign.
The owner Jay & his wife were extremely responsive and helpful.
