The lake itself is a beautiful natural expanse of water set among shady gum trees. Seasonally, thousands of glorious water lilies line the banks in the shallow water. This lush oasis is home to a vast array of birds and native animals, making it an ideal location to birdwatch and photograph some of Quilpie Shire’s unique wildlife. Visiting this beautiful, natural lake teeming with native birds makes it difficult to believe this is outback Queensland! Why not try your hand at fishing in the lake or sit and watch the abundant and varied bird life. At night, you may like to take in our awesome sunsets and spectacular stargazing, far away from city lights. We are located only a short 5 minute drive from the friendly little town of Quilpie. We also have lovely cottage style accommodation on our property and powered sites. Check out our website or give us call and we can tell you all about it.

Quilpie’s best camp ground
Always a great place to break your trip across the Warrego Way, The Lake was busy this trip but we still managed to find a nice spot on our own looking over the water.

Relax at The Lake
We stayed for four nights right beside the lake on a non powered site with our dog in our camper trailer. Beautiful site, lots of trees and very peaceful. It was a bit of a hike or short drive up to the office and amenities where powered sites were available. This did not bother us as we wanted to be on the lake. Amenities excellent. Included a laundry. Staff very friendly and helpful. We did not want to leave the peace and beauty of this station.

Very pleasant spot by the lake to spend a couple of days. Clean facilities, and opportunity to replenish water if needed. Friendly hosts.

Fantastic camping experience
Very friendly welcome and very helpful in explaining the site and our surroundings, we had no optus reception and had to call home for a mini drama snd louise was very accommodating letting us use her phone and passed on a msg to us- get a telstra sim from the post office and use wifi to register it in town! The lake is beautiful and facilities are spotlessly clean, current care takers Greg and Helen are brilliant! Even brought in and folded our washing so very kind. Book a spot and stay u wont be disappointed:) its a wonderful place
