Discover the most magical spots to pitch your tent or park your rig on your next Davies Creek National Park adventure.
Campers can hike, bike, and swim along the creek in this North Queensland park.
Dense woodlands, granite peaks, and bubbling streams line the banks of Davies Creek—the natural focal point of this national park. Hike along forested trails, admire views of Davies Creek Falls, then stop to picnic by the waterfront or take a swim in the cool waters of the creek. If you’re feeling adventurous, there are opportunities to explore off-road in a 4WD, and the Davies Creek Mountain Bike Park has challenging trails for all levels. Look out for wildlife along the way—sightings include endangered northern bettongs, platypus, and birds such as eastern yellow robin and white-naped honeyeater. Lower Davies Creek Camping Area has tent-only dirt and gravel pitches along the banks of Davies Creek. Picnic tables and wheelchair-accessible toilets are provided.
Davies Creek has a subtropical climate, meaning it’s warm enough for tent camping year-round. The best time for camping and outdoor activities is from May through November when the weather is cooler and dryer. Wet season (December through April) visitors should prepare for intense heat and downpours—plan hikes for the early morning and take care swimming in the creeks after heavy rainfall. A 4WD might be required to access the camping area at this time.
