A gateway to Gaspésie National Park, this city offers amenities and close proximity to nature.
Well suited to serve visitors to nearby Gaspésie National Park, Sainte-Anne-des-Monts offers a range of great places to eat, a microbrewery, boutiques, a marina, and a popular salmon fishing river. The city beach is a great spot for swimming or sitting with an ice cream, thanks to a collection of driftwood sculptures. (Sainte-Anne-des-Monts calls itself the driftwood capital of Canada.) All around the city are naturally spectacular places for hiking and exploring, right outside the national park. Campers can find plenty of places in town to pick up supplies.
A popular destination for outdoor adventurers year-round, Sainte-Anne-des-Monts serves as a hub for all-seasons travel. That said, some attractions and businesses close for winter, so it's worth calling in advance if there are specific places you plan to visit during this time. The city can get busy in July and August, when weather is at its best. For a quieter pace (with a chance for still-great weather), try fall travel.
