Natural wonders and outdoor adventure are set right in the centre of this vibrant small city.
Serving a population of 11,000, La Tuque is unique for a couple of reasons: It is the largest city by area in Canada, and in the centre of it all are a ski hill with a bunch of natural recreation opportunities (trails, a riverfront with marinas, and lush forest). There’s plenty to do in La Tuque without snow too—take a quad tour, hit the BMX park, take a sightseeing flight out over the area, or sample beers at the microbrewery.
As a year-round city that sustains a large population, La Tuque is ready for visitors year-round, pending the activities you're looking to do. For summer pursuits and getting out on the water, you’ll find the warmest temperatures from late June through to early September. The ski season in Quebec can start as early as November and run through to April, making March an excellent time when resorts are less busy and the powder is still deep.
