We took over this property in the Spring of 2023 but it has been family-owned since 1961. The property includes a 34X24 pavilion, a swing set, a fire pit, a portapotty, a porch swing, picnic tables, etc. It is located directly on the West Branch of the Conococheague Creek. You can enjoy kayaking, fishing, being right on the creek, and peace and quiet. There is also a mowed section along the creek that allows you easy access to the water with a small rock-style beach. The land is pretty much all flat and you can pitch a tent/s anywhere. There is plenty of room to park a camper/rv in multiple locations. This property is the perfect place to get away but close enough to town to enjoy local restaurants/amenities. It is only 1 mile away from Historic Downtown Mercersburg, which has bars, restaurants and stores to buy anything you may need.Sit back and relax in our peaceful creek side oasis located in South Central Pa. Shelly's Woods is secluded and quiet but only one mile away from historic downtown Mercersburg. If town is not for you, stay put and enjoy the many features Shellys Woods provides. The property is bordered by 250 yards of the West Branch of the Conococheague Creek, a perfect spot for kayaking and fishing. Bass, Trout, Chubs, and crayfish can be caught in abundance. There are a few deep holes that can also be used for swimming. The creek is easily accessible; with a large mowed section and a small rock beach. Above the creek is a large 34X24 pavilion with 6 picnic tables. There is also a swing set and a bench swing set up about 15 yards from the creek bank. A fire pit with chairs and another picnic table is located next to the swingset. The land is nestled in a hollow that is full of very large shag bark hickory, walnut, and sycamore trees. There are 2 acres of land and a stream that can be explored. You will be the only person/people there. I will only rent it out to one person/group/family at a time. Wildlife is abundant, hawks, owls, waterfowl, deer, turkey, and other game species are frequent visitors. If you do want to leave camp there are restaurants, bars, convenience, and grocery stores all within a mile. Whitetail Ski Resort is only 15 minutes away. There is golfing, snowboarding, tubing, skiing, dining, and a large wedding venue located there. Hagerstown and Greencastle are only 20-25 minutes away that offer other shopping opportunities. We took over the land in Spring 2023 but it has been family-owned since 1961. The original owner was named Grandma Shelly, hence the name Shelly's Woods. It's our hope to be able to offer this space for others to enjoy for years to come. For events larger than 10 people an extra charge will be added to the total. Please specify how many people will be in your group. This property is weather dependant and has flooded in the past due to being located directly next to the creek. If we feel that the property will be impacted by severe weather we will notify you so you can make other reservations. The chances of this happening are very slim, but there is always that possibility.

Shelly's Woods

We had a wonderful time, the campsite was very spacious for the dogs to run. We enjoyed sitting by the creek and got to watch some wildlife! Would go back, highly recommend.

I had the BEST time hot tent camping at Shelly's Woods! It is a big, grassy property with plenty of mature trees that my dog loved running around. It offers a wonderful pavilion that is filled end to end with two rows of picnic tables and still leaves space for covered recreation during bad weather. Closeby was an older, but very clean Port o potty. The creekside porch swing was my favorite amenity. It's the perfect spot to enjoy a caffeinated beverage in the morning! The "beach" area at the creek has a very gentle slope that would allow you to walk right in with ease. Being creekside, it is a great spot for bird watching and you can expect to hear barred owls at night. As far as a few last things about amenities, it was great to have trash cans available. What a huge bonus to not pack out your rubbish! There is no potable water, so plan to bring your own or to filter from the creek. There is a Rutter's 5 minutes away in Mercersburg that sells water and firewood. My only complaint that I could possibly think of (and that grasping for a con to provide) was the sound of cars from the road. It is not a heavily trafficked road, but you will hear vehicles as they are passing. You can tell Shelly's Woods is well maintained and well loved by the owners. They were very responsive to any questions I had. I had three friends visit while I was there and all are looking to come back and stay at this property someday. It really is a special spot. I highly recommend it.

Excellent camping site!

The campsite was extremely nest and organized! The hosts were awesome. The pavilion and fire pit were great amenities for the trip. Looking forward to camping here again in the spring/summer! I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a great controlled area!
