Creature comforts
Enjoy the comforts of home—including flush toilets, showers, and a kitchen.
OtterLodge lies at the end of the road, on the rim of beautiful Whychus Creek Canyon. The property is surrounded by 60-acre Aspen Hollow nature preserve to the north, 40 unoccupied private acres to the south, and 40 acres of conservation easement to the west--so we're surrounded here by of over a hundred acres of nature. One of only three Golden Eagle cams in the world is located on this property. (The other two are in Europe. The website is www.GoldenEagleCam.org, and the camera streams from mid-February when the eggs are laid, to early June, when the babies fledge.) Other animals I've seen here: wild turkey, deer, Western Lynx, and mountain lion (don't worry--they're shy!). There are beaver and otters in the nature preserve to the north, and I recently had to pause as I was driving out to let a stampede of elk pass over the driveway! Imagine being able to enjoy all that from the comfort of your own Happier Camper modern retro travel trailer! There's a big, comfy bed, and a kitchen (see pics for details). There's wifi available in the trailer--but if you'd prefer to go on a digital diet while you're here, I can withhold the password if you'd like! ;-) There's no bathroom in the trailer, but you will have access to the bathroom in the shop about 100 paces away. Like most shop bathrooms, it's nothing fancy--but it does have a flush toilet, hot and cold running water, and a shower. Other amenities include a climbing rock, horseshoe pits, short (1-2 mile) hikes out the door, excellent star-gazing (very little light pollution), and several benches/chairs/tables set up around the place to take in the views. If you brought bikes and want to bike to town, it's about 8 miles via the scenic bike route (or a 6.7 mile drive via the highway). It's dog heaven out here, and dogs are quite welcome, provided they get along well with other dogs, of whom there are currently four in residence. Your area is not fenced (although I can provide 16 feet of portable dog pen, if you'd like), and my four are often with me around the property (i.e., not behind a fence). So please tell me *before booking* if your dog does not get along well with other dogs and we can discuss the details, and see if we can work something out. Note: the trailer only has room for two adults; there is a queen bed, a small kitchen, and only a few square feet of open floor space. If you book for more than 2 people, you must provide a tent, bedding, and camp mats for those people. (Only exception would be a small, co-sleeping child.) There is a flat tent site just a few feet from the trailer. The camper is brand, spankin' new, and is seriously the cutest one ever made, that I know of. It has a two-burner propane stove, sink with running water, small electric fridge, stainless steel urn with drinking water from the 750-foot deep well (it's delicious), and a slightly-larger-than-Queen-size bed (60 x 82 inches). You'll have exclusive use of: the camper, adjacent outdoor seating area, and two hammocks; as well as shared access to the climbing rock, horseshoe pits, a picnic table on the point overlooking the eagle nest area, and to several benches and trails around the property. (Map provided upon arrival.) There is also a nice flat area next to the trailer where you can set up a tent if your party is larger than the camper will hold. (It will hold 1-2 people and a dog--maybe two dogs if at least one of them is small.) You will be able to see the house from parts of your site, but it's 200 feet away (and closest outbuilding structure is 120 feet away), and the trailer has been situated and positioned for privacy, in a grove of ponderosa and juniper trees. If you're not familiar with the town of Sisters (6.7 miles away), it's got a lot going on for a small town--numerous festivals throughout the summer and fall, as well as a weirdly happenin' music scene. There's an extensive mountain biking trail system that starts in town and heads south towards the mountains. And, Sisters is the gateway to the Three Sisters Wilderness area, with lots of snow-capped peaks and alpine lakes to explore....

My boyfriend and I loved glamping in Leslie’s happy camper. The wifi and showers were a nice amenity to have as well. Leslie was such a kind and outgoing host who fulfilled all our needs and answered any questions we had regarding the camper. She helped make our time in Sisters phenomenal! 5/5 would camp again!

The perfect reset!
Leslie is an amazing host! We had a blast staying in the Happier Camper! The environment was serene and felt like you were a million miles from civilization. Our Son had a blast on the rock wall, and we were lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the Golden Eagles nestled on the cliff side. Overall an amazing experience, worth far more than what she asks. Will stay again!

Leslie was quick to communicate from start to finish. She’s added several cute touches to the camper. The bed was plenty large enough for myself, my very tall partner, and our almost 2 year old toddler. Gorgeous views, lots to explore, and a full bathroom with shower accesible to campers. Everything was wonderful. Only recommendation would be to bring your own dishes, pots/pans, and utensils if you’re group is larger than 2. There are only 2 sets of utensils and 4 plates/bowls, one pot, and one pan. We were able to make this work for just us, but it would’ve been difficult if we had brought our other kids. We would go back and stay again. So much fun! The horseshoes, hammocks, and view points were cute added touches!
