Next to Mono Cliffs Provincial Park

1 site ¡ RV, Tent10 acres ¡ Mono, ON
This is a very private little slice of heaven that I've been pleased to steward for over 20 years.  If you love the sound of frogs singing, and bullfrogs plucking their banjo strings, red-winged blackbirds trilling, you will love it here.  The property is literally right across the street from the Mono Cliffs Provincial Park which boasts amazing trails, views and features the Niagara Escarpment.  The 4-acre pond/wetland is designated 'Provincially Significant' by the Ministry of Natural Resources and is an important part of the Nottawasaga Watershed.  This area is renowned for its terrain - the fields are rolling and the views are quite special. You will enjoy a private firepit and private overlook at the pond with hammock. The site isn't visible from the road.  Our house is visible from the site but far enough away as to not disturb one another.

Overview

About

Embark on a journey to Thackeray Provincial Park, a hidden gem where the Earth's ancient history is etched into the very rocks beneath your feet. Venture through this nature reserve to witness a stunning display of Archean metavolcanic formations, offering a unique glimpse into our planet's deep past. With no campgrounds or visitor facilities, Thackeray is a sanctuary for those seeking a pure and undisturbed connection with nature.

When to go

The best time to visit Thackeray Provincial Park is during the summer months when the weather is most favourable for outdoor exploration. The park's geological features are most accessible and visible when not covered by snow. • Research the park's geological significance to fully appreciate the natural wonders you'll encounter.
  • Prepare for a self-guided adventure, as there are no guided tours or visitor centres.
  • Check weather conditions before your visit, as the park is in a remote location with variable weather.
  • Wear appropriate footwear for hiking over rocky terrain.
  • Remember to leave no trace and respect the park's status as a nature reserve.
