If you’re a hippie or groovy soul your going to want to stay here! Sherry is out of this world accommodating and an all around kind human being! Her property is relaxing and has the best vibes. If you have the chance to stay here- go for it! I plan on returning 10/10.

We had so much fun camping on Sherry’s land! She’s super nice and helpful. Would definitely recommend! Less than half an hour to the whitewater center.

Our stay at hippie holler was amazing! Sherry went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. I secretly ordered a cake for my gf since our stay there was a surprise for her birthday, and even though she wasn't the most familiar with the theme I asked for she still did her best to ensure the cake was everything I wanted and then some.

Sherry’s camping spot was exactly what we were looking for. Just a night away from the city, under the stars, cooking some food over a fire. The bonus is Sherry! She’s a colorful character and was fun to have as a host and made us feel welcome. She hung out with me and my teenage boys for a bit, and schooled us on how to get a proper fire going.
For me the place had a Seattle vibe and made me happy. The stars were all out and I felt a sense of peace and one with the universe …
My only complaint which was my fault entirely, was the toilet situation and me eating something I didn’t cook very well lmao.
Ahhhh , it makes a good story.
But I would definitely go back for another stay and only eat chips or something :)

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hippie Holler. It's a great, fun space that's set up perfectly for hanging out and relaxing. It's conveniently located close to Crowders Mountain, Kings Mountain, and Charlotte. Sherry is the best. She's very accommodating and friendly, and made sure we were comfortable. Plus, she's just a lot of fun to chat with. Being relatively close the house was not an issue for us. We still felt like we had plenty of privacy. There are neighborhoods nearby so there's some typical neighborhood noise (e.g. dogs barking, kids playing, an occasional truck) but it's minimal. It didn't bother us at all, and it certainly didn't bother our dogs, either! They loved having the room to run around. We would totally stay here again if in the area - and next time we'll take advantage of Sherry's cooking!

Sherry had the whole theme "on point" for Hippie Holler, which I could tell from the pictures. I knew from the picturdefinitely wanted all the lights and fairy magic and bright colors. What I did not know, until I got there, was that Sherry actually believes in this theme, this idea. She was the most accommodating, hardest-working, nature-loving host and I would not hesitate to send you Sherry's way. If you want to unplug or NOT, stay there and you will, indeed, have a blast and leave knowing that you made the right choice. #findtheothers

Sherry was really cool and her spot is pretty neat too! She stopped by and talked with us for a while. She made sure we had everything we needed just in case we forgot something or needed more wood. Her camping area was nice and near some good area attractions.

Sherry did a great job in communicating with me as we had to repeatedly try to fix issues on hipcamp's end. First time using hipcamp, and while they did eventually get things corrected, I cannot imagine how many guests would not stick it out and look elsewhere at the detriment to the host.
Beyond the consistent communication, Sherry made delicious food and her brownies were amazing. It was also really nice to glamp and let someone else get the firewood and meals prepared. Made it a wonderfully relaxing opportunity to unplug for the night and have a cozy yurt waiting for us!

I loved tent camping at Sherry's land. She is such a hip host for Hipcampers. She greeted us and made us feel very welcome. We were spending the evening in Charlotte and were looking for a place to stay outside of the city. That was the best decision. We enjoyed the city and came home to a spending the night under the stars! The ground is well kept. I like all the artworks that she had around the yard. We also ordered breakfast with her and they were so delicious. If we had to do over again, we would just order the same thing, instead of making her prepare different breakfast. The french toasts were so delicious! Everything was great. Hot coffee for the cold morning was nice!. Sherry had hula hoops, hammock under a shelter, a nice deck with seatings. Very comfortable and fun place to hang out. We said hello to her dogs, they were cute. We enjoyed our conversation with her and learned that she is an accomplished artist! We love her arts and her personality. Would definitely go back there again and have a longer stay.

Hippie Holler was a dream! Me and my girlfriends had a wonderful time. We felt so welcomed and taken care of by Sherry. She was the kindest host and we can’t wait to come back and visit again. Nice open land very taken care of she puts so much hard work and love into her home. Great attention to detail. Beautiful. If your thinking about booking just go ahead. Won’t be disappointed.

Brownies were recommended and excellent. Breakfast was great blue plate was ok. But in her defense we said we’re we’re no picky, cheese cake outta this world ☺️ The yurt was accommodating for the two of us. She did try and accommodate me for a shower. Lighting was breathtaking. I personally would give her 4 stars. Some things, I would’ve thought would be included in breakfast and dinner. Tea, coffee ,,,, nonetheless I would book again in the winter months.

Sherry is a wonderful host and has poured her heart and sole into this place. Everywhere you look there is something beautiful, whimsical and/or interesting to catch your eye. Zinnias, butterflies , humming birds and dragonflies are plentiful at Hippie Holler this time of year. The yurt is spacious and comfortable. Even though the weather did not cooperate, it was a great weekend we will never forget. Thank you for everything Sherry! You are a gem- and you have made this place downright magical! We will be back!

It was very peaceful, very quite and serene. Sherry was a delightful host, kind and considerate. She made us delicious cupcakes and even gave us magic to throw into our fire! She kept checking on us throughout our stay and I’m sure if we needed it, she would provide it. It was such a wonderful time and the common area was perfect. The stars were very visible and I found myself wanting to doze off in the hammock! I will definitely come back, and hopefully give the yurt a try!

The yurt was nestled off by itself which was nice. There wasn't any other campers but if there were it still would have provided some nice isolation. The vibe of the place was great, and it served as a perfect base camp for hanging out with friends in between kayaking on lake Wylie. Sherry was a very gracious host who saw to it that everything we needed was taken care of. If you stay here, I highly recommend getting the cupcakes. They may have been the best cupcakes I've ever had!

This was our first experience with Hipcamp, and it was also the maiden voyage for our teardrop camper. Sherry is very kind and hospitable, and she’s very keen to ensure your stay is comfortable. It’s almost like she’s running a B&B…..but with tents! . Sherry’s land is at the end of a dead-end street, and the campsites are at the side of her land in a row, beginning with a gravel pad next to her house and ending with a yurt at the far end. All sites are in view of the house and the cute little pavilion. We couldn’t see Sherry’s neighbors until we pulled out of her driveway, but we could hear their lawnmowers, trimmers, dogs, and motorcycles. It’s definitely a country neighborhood. Our dog loved being able to roam over her yard, and there were little bunnies hopping all over the place. Overall, it was a successful maiden voyage, and we have a list of things we need to do/buy/adjust for our next adventure.

This host knows how to make her property your home. Lots of incredible spots to camp &relax as well as enjoy nature. I am inspired by her transformation of the property into such a welcoming space for campers looking for an alternative to hotels and the average campsite. Nothing about this place is "normal". It's inspiring.

Overall we had a good experience. Sherry was very friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately we were expecting a spacious private campsite, but instead it was about 25 feet from the host’s house and in what was a big backyard rather than a field. The listing could be more accurate and it seemed to oversell the property. We did feel very safe and it was nice to see stars and hear lots of country wildlife.

This place was perfect and absolutely adorable. The host was so welcoming and friendly. A few options of places to set up personal tents. There is a GORGEOUS yurt tucked more privately in the woods as well. We returned late at night after a concert and the property was so cool and chill at night. Lots of adorable lights to set the mood to relax. Hammock provided! We will absolutely frequent this place any time we visit the charlotte area. Way better than a hotel!! As long as you don’t mind ‘real’ camping. Water, an outside shower, & compost toilet are also on the property. Just don’t trip and fall knocking down the toilet tent like I did. With that said- toilet stayed in place and saved me from a terrible time 😂❤️ Loved it here. A very all welcoming place!

A true gem hidden away in Gastonia! We felt transported to a magical fairy land. The hostess was one of the nicest people I have ever met. If you get a chance to add the breakfast and coffee, please do, it’s absolutely delicious! We will be back multiple times a year!

Wow! Hippie Holler did not disappoint!! I took my 13 and 10 year old boys there and they loved it!! The yurt was fabulous and very roomy! The setting was serene, very peaceful especially at bedtime. We knew we didn’t want to lug a bunch of groceries so we ordered the Charcuterie board…OH MY GOSH, it was amazing. I am going to try to upload a photo. Sherry was the perfect hostess and made us feel right at home…she’s a gem!!! Crowder Mountain State Park is about 5 minutes away and about 25 minutes from the Whitewater Center (which was on our agenda) so the location was perfect! You must give Hippie Holler a try, you’ll love it!!!

I've been staying at various hipcamps all over the United States, but Hippie Holler was probably the grooviest place I've ever seen! From the historical property, the set up, the safety ( I travel alone mostly) the peace and quiet, location, and I was the first one to stay in the yurt!! Wow, what a cool experience! It's so cozy and personal, and it was really warm even though it was 38° outside. The little fireplace works amazing!Sherry puts heart and soul into her place, and goes above and beyond to make a person feel at home. I also enjoyed the French toast, and the brownies... I'd go back just for the food alone! I plan on making Hippie Holler a regular stop in my travels. Thanks Sherry and Merle!!
