Nestled between evergreen-covered peaks in Etowah and in the shadows of Pisgah National Forest lies Green Haven. With mountain views, rustic and comfortable campsites, and abundant plants and animals to appreciate, Green Haven is a peaceful destination to get away from it all and enjoy spending time immersed in nature and mountain solitude. Wildlife abounds in the area. Deer and white squirrels are a common sight. Tall white pines, popular, and rhododendron shade the campsites. Enjoy mountain spring water during the winter and spring months (seasonal water supply). Build a crackling fire in the fire pit from available pre-cut wood and existing dead wood around the campsites. Hike the property on the designated trails and discover rock outcroppings, long range mountain views, fern forests, and a variety of wild mushrooms seasonal. Families, individuals, and groups alike enjoy camping here! We have 3 very private campsites. "Chanterelle" campsite has a fire ring, picnic table, and accommodates 5 people. "Fern" has a fire ring, picnic table, and can accommodate 5 people. Both sites have access to a pit latrine. The third site, "Big Rock" is a group site located at the top of the property, offering mountaintop views. Must have V6 or 4WD to access. Big Rock has a fire ring, 2 picnic tables, and its own pit latrine. A seasonal spring (Oct-July) is available on the property and a small stream, Piney Branch, that runs year round, drink at own risk (see map). There are two marked hiking trails. Please use the map to stay on property. Green Haven is centrally located 20 minutes between Brevard and Hendersonville. DuPont State Forest is 25 minutes away and it includes hiking, mountain biking, and waterfalls. Boaters will find the French Broad River, Horseshoe Bend, river access less than 10 minutes. More hiking and mountain biking at Ride Kanuga 15 minutes away. Nearby breweries include Mills River Brewery and Bold Rock Cidery 15 minutes away.

Fern - Primitive Campsite
The campsite was gorgeous and pretty secluded. Everything was as described and it was a lovely stay. There was plenty of firewood nearby, a decent fire ring, and a nice picnic table. I couldn’t hear any car traffic, but there were a few planes that went overhead. Overall, awesome spot! The road was a little rutted and close with vegetation, so we had a bit of trouble getting in without scratching her car.

This campsite was perfect! The area is beautiful and private. It was so nice to have a small stream next to the site for our dogs to drink from. Much better than a campground!

Camping in the wilderness!
I loved camping with my friends and family on Susanne’s land. We were able to pull our cars right up to a short driveway leading to the campsites. We brought our wagon to carry some gear to the sites, but it wasn’t a long walk at all. Our dog was able to explore nearby, off-leash, which was so fun for her! Our children had a ton of fun playing in a nearby stream, building forts and looking for critters. The flora was beautiful, loads of rhododendrons. Susanne and Patrick have taken time to blaze a few trails on their property. They are well-Marked. Overall, a great time was had by all!

Comfortable, peaceful, secluded
Had a great weekend camping at the Fern site. It was just what I was looking for, which was - peaceful time in nature, close to home. It felt like we were deep in the woods but with the comfort of a fire pit, picnic tables, spring water and clean out house. There were some other campers at the site near mine but they were far enough away that I didn't hear much besides faint voices. I was camping alone, with my dog, so safety was important to me. I like having other people somewhat near but not too close, so this was perfect. I was able to get my small suv down the gravel driveway leading right up to the site but it is pretty narrow and steep, so definitely use caution especially at night. Larger trucks might not be able to do it, but there is a parking area very close by. Best part - have fun finding the "invisible fort". It's not that obvious at first, I didn't find stumble upon it until day two and it was a lovely surprise!

Beautiful, Serene, and Quiet
Green Haven was the perfect stay for my family. Totally quiet, serene, and beautiful. Great location for us to explore DuPont. Clean out house and well kept campsites. Would definitely stay again! So glad we found this place.
