Secluded 48 acres in Murphy (about 16 minutes to downtown). Near: John C. Campbell Folk School (about 12 minutes away); Nantahala River (about 35 minutes away). Friendly dog and 2 cats (they live at my house, but may come to the chapel for a visit). Roam the property, visit the chickens and ducks, swim in the spring fed pond. If you are a camper or want to try "camping," then you will love "glamping" ("glamorous camping") at the chapel! Read more about "glamping" and the chapel's features below. The space My vision is that my property (which I've named "Kingdom Come") would be a place of rest, retreat, and enjoyment for others. I am going to build a few cabins for lodging, but my first major project was building a chapel, so that it would be the centerpiece and heartbeat: a place for reflection, meditation, and prayer. I built the chapel myself (with my own hands, and the hands of a couple of friends). As I work on building the cabins, I have decided to use the chapel as a glamping site (better than using it as a "divine" storage building!). My mother was an artist and when she died I ended up with a lot of her artwork. Some of her paintings now fill the chapel. They also fill the space, I hope, with her grace and love and creativity. The chapel features beautiful timber frame construction. As to "glamping" . . . there is no running water/plumbing, but you'll have all the fresh water you need for showers, drinking, etc. Limited electricity for running the kitchen appliances. No AC, of course, but the fan will keep it comfortable in warm weather. As to cold weather, the chapel has an electric heater that keeps it fairly comfortable in cold weather: not blazing hot, but comfortable, unless it gets VERY cold; then, the heater just takes off some of the chill. Zinus Ultima Comfort Memory Foam 6 Inch mattresses are very comfortable! Using the outdoor solar/camp shower is wonderful. The privy is clean and well-ventilated. Appliances: fan; toaster oven; microwave oven; coffee maker; and, small micro-fridge. Lighting is provided by four rechargeable lanterns. Screens on the windows and door to keep the bugs at bay. Outdoor deck features comfortable Adirondack chairs, a Weber charcoal grill, and a fire pit for campfires. I''ll provide you with wood for a few (maybe for all of your fires, depending on how much wood you burn) campfires. Matches and paper provided, too, to help get the fire started. The play area offers opportunities limited only by your imagination. Sunbathing? Stargazing? Badminton and Bocce balls provided if you want to play! AT THE CHAPEL YOU WILL BE PROVIDED WITH: Towels and wash clothes Sheets, pillow cases and blankets Coffee filters Salt and Pepper Soap for washing Dinnerware (including knives, forks, and spoons) for four Paper plates and disposable knives, forks, and spoons Toilet paper Paper towels Plenty of water for drinking, washing, and bathing YOU MAY WISH TO BRING: Charcoal, if you want to use the grill Learn more about this land: Secluded 48 acres in Murphy (about 16 minutes to downtown). Glamping at the Chapel—Add on Sauna
The chapel was very secluded, which was perfect for us. Billy provided enough electricity for a couple of fans and a mini fridge. He also has screens on the windows and door, so you can sleep with everything open and not let the bugs in. Rechargable lanterns were in the cabin, but they did not hold a charge for very long. We had a huge thunderstorm come through overnight and everything inside the chapel stayed completely dry. The property gets absolutely no cell service, which I enjoyed. The outdoor shower was sufficient but not enjoyable, as the water was freezing-even in hot sun. Fire pit on the deck was nice. The little town of Murphy has some shopping and restaurants nearby. I would recommend the Chapel as a great Glamping experience.

Glamping at the Chapel—Add on Sauna
Private Getaway in the Mountains
To start, Billy and Mary are amazing. They went above and beyond with my intro to the property and that energy is felt throughout the entire property. The chapel is much larger than I expected before arriving. They have everything you need and more! The gorgeous property has a deck with a grill and firepit. The lake is visible from the chapel and I was told it's excellent for swimming, in warmer weather. The woodfire sauna is definitely a highlight to the stay! The sound of the mountains while relaxing in the sauna was amazing. I definitely want to come back for a girls trip! The ladies would love it!!

Glamping at the Chapel—Add on Sauna
Stay was great, quiet and peaceful. I hiked around the hills to a great view of the mountains, made a fire in the fire pit, read inside the chapel and did the sauna at night including a few dips in the pond. Chapel was comfortable and well-equipped with flatware and utensils, cleaning supplies, toaster oven, minifridge, coffee maker with filters, and microwave. Temperature was around 30 degrees at night. I'm cold-natured so I brought a down blanket and lots of layers. With the heater it was a still a bit chilly but totally fine. Lots of great hikes and waterfalls and rivers in the area.

Glamping at the Chapel—Add on Sauna
A wonderful stay...
Our family had a wonderful time at the Chapel. Billy and Marie are the most generous and kind people, and made us feel right at home. The chapel itself is spacious and cosy all at the same time, and if you appreciate wood construction, it's a really beautiful building. Billy's property is tucked away, and quiet, with big, mature trees for shade during the day, and a stunning view of the stars from the deck at night. The Sauna was an absolute treat and a must. Our kids enjoyed chasing grasshoppers, playing horse shoes, feeding the fish at the pond, and riding in the canoe. They also had way too many s'mores. If you get the opportunity, visiting with Billy and Marie was by far the greatest treat of all. Definitely make the time to get to know this beautiful couple.

Beautiful and Restorative
The Chapel and the land around it was stunningly beautiful. The accommodations were very comfortable and Billy and Mary were the most welcoming and supportive hosts. And the end of our weekend there, we felt refreshed and restored. We will definitely return to the Chapel many times.

Glamping at the Chapel—Add on Sauna
Although it was pretty chilly in the winter, we really enjoyed our stay at the chapel! It is a beautiful place and close to lots of great hiking in Nantahala and the Smokies. Billy & Mary were welcoming and set up the chapel very nicely. Bringing sleeping bags and lots of layers is definitely important in the winter.
