This 137 acre Wild horse sanctuary is paradise for you and the horses that live here.  The camping on this spectacular ranch surrounded by water, supports our mission to rescue as many of Americas wild horses that we can.   As you stroll through the hay field you will have the opportunity to come face to face with our herds.   The beautiful Dutch barn built in the 1700s  has been restored and has a community room that allows the horses to visit.   The land has a 5 acre pond and backs to the Schoharie creek. It is a wonderful blend of water , fields , trails, woods and rock outcropping . We have cut many trails and will add more each year.  Come and visit this spectacular valley that we call home.  Creek camp: Next to the Schoharie creek. Hear the rushing creek as you sleep. Cliff ledge Camp: Deep in the woods with a view of the horse pasture.  Enjoy the peaceful sound of nature Enchanted forest Camp: In the woods for peach and quiet.   Mustang Valley is a spectacular little piece of paradise. Nestled in the valley on 140 acrs. Pitch your tent next to the creek with beautiful swimming hole and fishing. 5 minute walk to barn. Surrounded by Horses, domestic and wild, goats, and chickens. Kayaks and paddle boards available.  very large secluded pond for a  paddle.  Miles of trails. Ranch is situated in a valley surrounded by mountains right on the Schoharie creek. The creek runs like a river and is perfect for swimming, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, or just floating in a tube.

Camp Gian
Lovely private camping spot!
We camped in site 4 which was a very private and beautiful spot by the creek. It was perfect. It’s a bit of a treck through the woods from where you park to get to the site (as Mary mentions in the description) so best to pick light if possible. There is a fire pit and chairs provided at the site. The land is beautiful, and Mary is an excellent host. If you are into horses, you’ll be in heaven. There’s plenty of opportunities to meet and learn about Mary’s animals. Ask Mary (or anyone you happen to run into in town) for recommendations for hikes, swimming holes, fruit stands, and breweries if you are looking for something to do nearby. The closest major grocery store is in Cobbleskill (about 20 mins away). We didn’t need it but figured that might be useful for someone to know.

Camp Jolie
A tree had fallen on camp jolie so we were assigned to a different campsite. Other than that the experience was great and we had a good time seeing the horses and checking out a local waterfall. Mary was a great host and guided us to check in even though we showed up late at night.

Tiny off grid cabin
Mary’s warmth and excitement was worth the visit in itself. Her knowledge of the area and the care she gives for all her animals made the experience even nicer for us. The tiny cabin was warm and dry, even though the weather was intense. Already planning our next trip!

Tiny off grid cabin
Great stay as usual. Mary is always improving the sanctuary so it's always great to see what's new during repeat visits. Highly recommend!
