There are plenty of activities to try around town, from bushwalking, exploring the Rail Trail in Murwillumbah and downhill mountain biking at the Uki Mountain Bike Park (Less then 8Km from our property). The property is just 5km from the beautiful village of Uki. Uki is a place where community spirit hums. Village markets every Saturday selling local foods and crafts. The Old buttery offers ‘the Uki Buttery Bazaar Market’ on the 3rd Sunday of every month. Don’t forget to pop into the Uki Trading Post (Bastion Lane) for the Best coffee in Australia. The Mt Warning Hotel situated in Uki Village also offers all meals as takeaways and a complementary curtesy bus running from Friday 5PM through to Sunday. Stock up on supplies at the village General Store. Pet welcome on leash and under control. Campfires are permitted within local regulations. Firewood is available on site $15/bag. We do have a bathtubes on three sites. Campers should leave no trace. We are a short drive from the beautiful Hell’s hole, Unicorn falls and Mavis Kitchens. We have a 50 acre elevated bush block with space for approximately 80 people with tents, camper trailers or caravans. We have a range of different sites with two main camping areas and many smaller semi isolated spots. Caravans are best set up on the lower campground where the main view is, and we send noisier groups in tents or swags to our upper campground. If you want to be away from the main groups you can choose one of the quieter spots. There is a council maintained 2 km gravel road which provides access & most vehicles can make it here reliably in any weather. Please note that you are unlikely to make it up our road due to the lack of grip on the gravel if you have a front wheel drive vehicle with any significant sized trailer. Our campgrounds can also be very slippery if wet but dry out within a few hours. WE ASK OUR CAMPERS TO BRING A TOILET IF THEY'RE STAYING MORE THAN ONE NIGHT. We now sell bagged firewood for $20/ 20kg and fill LPG bottles, cash only. We're happy for campers to gather firewood from the bush around the campgrounds, bring your preferred method of cutting it. We are dog friendly but ask that campers keep their pets on a lead to stop them wandering onto adjacent properties or chasing our wildlife. The camping area has no amenities, however it shares a spectacular view south across the QLD/NSW border from 300 meters above sea level, with Mt. Maroon 6 km away. Also visible are Mt. Barney and Mt. Lindsay. The nearest toilets and showers are at Maroon Dam or Rathdowney, 15mins away. The local area has a tourism focus with plenty of opportunities to explore the Scenic Rim. Mt. Maroon and Mt. Barney offer walking trails to the top, Lake Moogera and Maroon Dam are not far away for jetskis, kayaking and swimming and we also have several eateries within 25 minutes. Scenic Rim website has more details. Dog friendly. We have an abundance of wildlife from Wedge Tailed Eagles to Bettongs and Koala. We also get some dangerous snakes and 2.5mt Lace Monitors (Goannas). I often have campers bring telescopes and big cameras to take advantage of the long range views and dark night sky. Kids are classed as age 10 and under. If aged 11 and over, please book at adult rate.

Directions: At Rathdowney, turn left into Running Creek Rd and travel approximately 17km south east. Campers & Day Trippers Rules: The Park is for everyone to enjoy, so please adhere to a few simple guidelines while enjoying this beautiful park. By using this park you agree to the following rules. All vehicles entering the park must observe 10 Km per hour speed limit. Fires must be extinguished prior to departure. Park users must clean up their area when leaving, by taking all rubbish, including food scraps and disposable nappies with them, so the next users can enjoy the Park as well. Do not burn your rubbish. It must be taken with you! The disposal of nappies in the grass around the waterline, and in fire pits, is a serious risk to human health, the health of the creek, surrounding stock and the ecosystem! Please be respectful of other camper’s space & privacy! Do not set up on top of other campers. Generator use is restricted to 4 hours per day between the hours of 2pm to 6pm. Stonesthrow is a rural property in the Illinbah valley, nestled between Beechmont and Canungra, with council approval for limited camping (4WD only - leave no trace). So if you want to escape the crowds at public campgrounds, your privacy and enjoyment are assured! We are NOT a 4WD park so vehicles must be parked up at your site on arrival and left there unless leaving the property to go to town/tourist activities. Any exploration of the property or travel to toilets is strictly on foot only- NO 4WD'ing. Anyone driving around the property will be asked to leave. There is 500 m of (shallow) creek frontage, kms of walking/riding trails and grassy creek flats for recreational activities. Over the decades, the property has been used to farm goats, train racing camels and spell racehorses. There is also a variety of fruit trees and plantation timber. Caravans are restricted on where they can access- with no guarantee of sufficient sunlight for solar. Elevated/remote sites cannot be reached with a caravan- please bear this in mind if booking with a caravan. Elevated/remote sites require capable 4WD's with off-road/AT/mud tyres only and campers need to be fully self-sufficient including having their own chemical camping toilets. If you don't have your own commercial chemical camping toilet then you will be given a choice of sites with access to facilities. Directions: At Rathdowney, turn left into Running Creek Rd and travel approximately 17km south east. All vehicles entering the park must observe 10 Km per hour speed limit. Fires must be extinguished prior to departure. There are plenty of activities to try around town, from bushwalking, exploring the Rail Trail in Murwillumbah and downhill mountain biking at the Uki Mountain Bike Park (Less then 8Km from our property). The property is just 5km from the beautiful village of Uki. Uki is a place where community spirit hums. Village markets every Saturday selling local foods and crafts. The Old buttery offers ‘the Uki Buttery Bazaar Market’ on the 3rd Sunday of every month. Don’t forget to pop into the Uki Trading Post (Bastion Lane) for the Best coffee in Australia. The Mt Warning Hotel situated in Uki Village also offers all meals as takeaways and a complementary curtesy bus running from Friday 5PM through to Sunday. Stock up on supplies at the village General Store. Pet welcome on leash and under control. Campfires are permitted within local regulations. Firewood is available on site $15/bag. We do have a bathtubes on three sites. Campers should leave no trace. We are a short drive from the beautiful Hell’s hole, Unicorn falls and Mavis Kitchens. As we are a working cattle property, please be aware off roaming cattle and there will be cow poo around the property and there could be some on your campsite. We do try and clean the camp sites but sometimes they do there business after we have cleaned up. So if you don't like cow poo maybe our place is not for you. Please note: We are 4WD access only. The Tweed River Retreat

However, everyones favourite part of the property is the flat, manicured campsite where the Door Doon Creek meets the Tweed River. With easy access to Kyogle road this 2 acre campsite offers absolute river frontage, landscaped gardens, fireplaces and enough room to get away from it all. Relax and unwind by the river or explore the many options on your doorstep, including Fishing, Canoeing, Kayaking (plenty of river to paddle, or Clarrie Hall Dam is 900m up the road). There are also many bike and walking tracks literally on your doorstep as well as the Murwillumbah Rail Trail less than 25 mins away. The other HUGE attraction to recently open is the world class UKI MOUNTAIN BIKE PARK (about a 4 min drive). Hemmed in by UNESCO-listed Gondwana Rainforests and sprawling wilderness areas, the Hinterland town is within a 2-hour drive of at least six national parks, and the region is dotted with bush campgrounds and Hipcamps. Ready for a road trip? Head west to go bushwalking and birdwatching in Richmond Range National Park and Toonumbar National Park, or north to Border Ranges National Park to drive the spectacular Rainforest Way and spot wild koalas. Mebbin National Park and Wollumbin National Park are also within easy reach, while Nightcap National Park and Mount Jerusalem National Park sit along the road to the North Coast. Before you leave Kyogle, make sure to check out the colourful Art Deco buildings, hike Fairy Mountain, and go fishing along the Richmond River.
