Once part of the Prince Ranch this land was abandoned in the 50's. Bought by an ex-FBI agent in the 70's, it was left alone and in a wilderness like state until we bought it in 2006. We have been managing the russian olive removal in the gentlest way for the land, and the most brutal way for a human. This allows the recovery of the Bosque to be as natural as possible and the hard work is showing dividends!
The Ojo was never farmed and there are few impacts as a result. For instance, we have no goat-head stickers and no invasive elm! Our wild river floods once in a while and always keeps us on our toes!
