Creature comforts
Enjoy the comforts of home—including flush toilets, showers, and a kitchen.
The Whynot Lodge is located in the Bighorn Canyon National Park, above the Yellowtail Dam in Fort Smith, Montana. Fly/Bait fishing and all water recreation sports are accessible. Plus hiking, mountain biking, and spelunking in ancient caves with 7000 y/o petroglyphs in them. We welcome artists, photographers, writers, and anyone who might be learning about a homesteading lifestyle. We recommend visiting our website at http://www.thewhynotlodge.com for a more complete description of our lodging. Are you looking for that once-in-a-lifetime destination getaway? Then look no further! At The Whynot Lodge, you will have access to enjoy Fly Fishing, Bait Fishing, and all levels of water activities on the Bighorn River and Bighorn Reservoir. If you are an artist or photographer looking for that unique spot in the world to express your creativity! Do you have an interest in learning the ways of a homesteading lifestyle? Or, are you looking to escape from the grind of the modern landscape and want to immerse yourself in the quiet beauty of nature for meditation, hiking the canyon edge, or exploring ancient caves with 7000-year-old Native American petroglyphs? We are that place! The rental is the lower half of our cabin in an 800-square-foot en-suite basement with a private entrance. Your accommodations will include a micro-kitchen with a refrigerator, sink, 2-burner induction stovetop, and a countertop air fryer/convection oven. The comfortable living room with a spectacular view of the canyon is equipped with an Internet TV, a DVD player with a few dozen movies, and numerous games for your entertainment. A 3/4 bath has a toilet, sink, and individual shower. The bedroom has a full and queen-sized bed that will sleep 4 comfortably. There is a private door off the bedroom that opens to a small deck and a fire pit for relaxing and cooking. We are a very rustic, and very secluded homestead. The work never stops at The Whynot and you can expect to see and hear the livestock and chickens. We collect rainwater into our cistern and live conserving water at all times and ask our guests to do the same. Showers and toilet use come with certain restrictions. The condition of our location reflects a substantive lifestyle. We are located in a wooded area and understand that there is no controlling the wildlife, dirt, and bugs that we share the environment with. Because black bears are prevalent in the area, a small firearm is recommended when hiking or exploring. We are a non-smoking cabin. We are 420 Friendly.
