Your chance to enjoy our secret hideaway! Camp and enjoy the private, stocked lake, available for catch and release fishing. Close enough to town to make a fast food or Walmart run, yet far enough away to be quiet, and to see the stars on a clear night. Take in the sights, and sounds, of a working mini farm, with goats, chickens, cows, horses, and more. Maybe even catch a glimpse of the blue herons, egrets, and even the bald eagles that visit occasionally. This property is visible on maps with two geographic features. Varner Dam and Holiday Lake. Holiday Lake used to be a Pay to Fish lake in the 60's and is currently a private residence. It is 10-40 minutes drive from most of the destinations you would want to visit in the Kansas City metropolitan area.

With 3 large trash cans at the entrance and a burning barrel near the lake, and 2 more trash cans just inside the door of the barn, it is super convenient for campers to get rid of their trash, specifically old fishing line and fishing gear. Winding up your line, tying it off, and throwing it into the lake actually takes more effort than sticking it in your pocket, and property disposing of it. Littering is NOT allowed.
Pitch a tent or pull up in a camper! Reserve simply to fish and enjoy a 10-acre private lake and space to explore, or book for the whole camping experience!
This property is about 10 minutes off of I-70, and far enough out to enjoy the quiet, yet close enough to go and pick up whatever you need in town.
There's a nature reserve nearby (just a walk or short ride down a gravel road) that provides even more room to explore.
We have WiFi, electrical, and water available. There are also truck stops nearby, as well as fast food, a pharmacy, and a Walmart within a 10-15 minute drive.
This is an OPERATING FARM/RANCH and gates and fences must be left AS FOUND. Care must be taken if walking in areas where animals are located. Pastures and fields with cattle in them, or other livestock are OFF LIMITS or MUST have a qualified guide with you.
HONEYBEES are managed on the property. Yes, you CAN arrange for a tour or beginners lesson. Some protective equipment is available.
A cash donation is appropriate for guided services, such as foraging, plant identification, fishing, beekeeping, and other lessons, etc.
There is a kayak and a rowboat and some fishing gear that may be available for use at your own risk (please let us know if you would like to use them or need any assistance or training).
Please see the Directions area for more information and guidance that could be helpful for your enjoyment of this very private and yet very accessible camping location!
