loved the easy set up and chil time at Atomic Campground. great host "Ian"
and hospitality. great location to hit the lake Michigan sites and then back again for the evenings. quite and quite weekend!!

Where Camping is ‘Nuclear’ Fun! ⚛️
I van camped overnight at Atomic Campgrounds and was very pleased with my stay! I arrived when it was dark out, and Ian was kind enough to have a fire already going for me that provided light and warmth all night long! Ian puts so much love and craftiness into this property. If you have a chance to chat with him, ask him about his arcade! 👾
There’s clean running water on site from a well pump and a portapotty nearby with everything you need. I came to watch the December Geminid Meteor Shower. For my fellow stargazers - you can get a pretty good view of the sky from here, but there’s a bit of light pollution coming from South Bend. Don’t let that deter you from camping here, the Great Lakes & Dunes are super nearby!

Awesome Spot with Amazing Host
I brought my car-top tent to Ian’s spot in anticipation of staying a day and then heading to Indiana Dunes. I stayed for 3! Ian is the consummate host! He’s super friendly and very accommodating. The space is INCREDIBLE! Lots of room for tents and RVs. Several water spigots. And a common space for hanging out that is cozy and vast. Bring a party or come alone—and you’ll feel at home here.
Ian has great tips for things to do and see in the area, which was great. He recommended Warren Dunes as an alternate to Indiana Dunes…and it was awesome! Plus St Joseph close by for great local shopping and wine tasting and checking out kite surfers on the lake.
After a day of activities, I came back to a homey fire in one of the existing fire pits that Ian had built! It was so awesome. We hung out with some folks who were staying there, which was fun and really welcoming.
If traveling in the area, stay at Ian’s Hipcamp!! I’ll def be back!

huge space with lots to offer
Great spot for camping. Super nice host. Amazing value. Large flat nicely cut grass with a great hangout area in the middle that we used to grill dinner, make a fire, drink and wash w the running water.
Really beautiful part of Michigan with farmers market just a few houses down, lots of fruit picking, great places to eat and beaches nearby.
