The site was great and easy to access and the firewood was nice.

Peaceful place
I really enjoyed my stay on Ely’s land. It’s very peaceful and secluded while also being easy to locate. There’s plenty of wildlife to enjoy, especially birds. My Britney loved it. 10/10 would recommend.

Scattercreek
We were traveling and would be getting into the camp late. Before booking, I sent a message to the host asking if a late arrival would be ok. They said it was fine and I booked the site. Once we arrived, the entrance gate was chained and locked. Based on other reviews the site and host seem great but unfortunately, we paid and did not get to stay.

Roughing it Kansas style!
I had a great solo tent camp at Scattercreek. If you like the tall grasses and flowers of Kansas, this is it. Exactly the experience I was hoping for.
It may be rugged for some but backing my car up to a fire isn't what I call camping. I parked at the entrance of the property and hiked in almost half a mile to the camp site. There is a vehicle path, but not suitable for my car. Ely, the host requested parking at the entrance as well.
The camp site is secluded in a clearing wrapped by trees and undergrowth. Walking up to it there is a yellow (quite faded) Hipcamp sign pointing into the clearing. I set my camping hammock up between two substantial trees, just behind the fire circle and next to a very large stack of seasoned firewood.
The property has several large grassy fields, surrounded by trees. The vehicle path winds from front to the back (at least as far back as I went). There are a few swales around the site where I saw deer prints in dried mud. There hadn't been much rain lately.
I did scare away one deer as I entered the site. Though I heard other rustling in the trees that evening this was the only one I saw. I heard the call of at least two Barred Owls and picked out the song of a very insistent Northern Bobwhite along with a mix of Robins, Crows, Woodpeckers, and Blue Jays.
For my August visit there was some tall grass to walk through. I would suggest long pants and hiking boots. I'm sure this is seasonal, and the host may cut it back at times.
I'll go back.

Wouldn’t choose another place to camp ! Just wanted something simple to camp for my first time & scattercreek did not disappoint. You could hear all the animals from the area, Easy access with a lot of burning wood around. Will definitely be back for more camping!
