Great communication!
Emma was wonderfully accommodating—had a later check in than expected, and got lots of good, useful communication that helped us get safely to the property, past the wonderful giant guard dogs, and to not park in the pond. When we awoke we had a blissfully lovely campsite to consider before we got back on the road. Easy access, plenty of trees and a very nice bit of water.

A step away from the city
Emma’s land is nice, quiet, with large open spaces, and most importantly - private. She was quick to communicate and even gave us a tour of the area before we settled in for the stay. She recommended an adorable brunch at Beans and Beignets in Earlham which worked out wonderfully. We didn’t have time to see the alpacas but hope to come back and visit soon 😊

A Pond and Alpacas?!? Yes, Please!!
The Waypoint is an amazing respite from hours on the road. What a slice of bucolic heaven! The quarry pond is so serene, a bit too cold to dip our feet in at the time we visited, but we can't wait to go back and paddleboard, kayak or swim! The hosts, Emma and Jason, are the best! They even let us feed the alpacas and interact with the dogs and cats hanging around the property. This is the perfect place to relax and enjoy nature. 10/10, highly recommend!

Midwest Magnificence!
I feel certain you’ll find The Waypoint to exceed expectation.
As soon as one turns off the main access road, the beautiful rural property and it’s inviting energy immediately envelopes you.
Once the pristine little lake reveals itself, you reflect “Oh I’ve arrived!”
After you’ve nested on one of many idyllic camp surfaces, animal friends are likely to escort you as you walk the gorgeously treed grounds and lounge along the meditative shoreline.
The space itself is surpassed only by the graciousness of the property hosts, determined to see you have nothing less than a superb experience.

Amazing hospital and beautiful sky
After a few days in the city, some time outdoors was essential. We were lucky to connect with Jason and Emma Walsmith on their beautiful property just outside of Des Moines. Not only were we able to have a pleasant evening camping, we were also able to be their first Hipcamp travelers to enjoy their hospitality. The starry sky and beautiful sunset were a sight to behold and even saw a shooting star! In the morning we woke up to meeting their animals and feeding the alpacas before we hit the road to home. Could not have wished for a better place to rest our heads through Iowa. Looking forward to returning one day!
