The local Troy RV park features a pet-friendly atmosphere for big rigs with paved parking spurs, full hookups, and picnic tables. Roughly 30 minutes north, tent, motorhomes, and equestrian campers can spend a few nights in the Idaho Panhandle National Forest’s Saint Joe Ranger District. Amenities here include picnic tables, fire rings, potable water, and restrooms. Swim, fish, and boat on the St. Maries River, hunt for rare crystals in the Emerald Creek Garnet Area, or snowboard amid fresh flurries in the Lookout Pass Ski & Recreation Area during winter. For a special treat, snowmobile to the Roundtop Hut for lunch. Heyburn State Park, an hour north, features more tent- and RV-friendly campgrounds with full hookups. Cottage rentals with furnished kitchens and cabins equipped with electricity and AC are also available. Rent a paddleboat from the marina to explore the lake in the morning, then bike the Trail of the Coeur d’Alenes before leaving.
