Our "Off Grid" campsite is nestled in the midst of a mini-Rainbow Eucalyptus Rainforest, with native Ohia trees sparsely located throughout our property. Hapu'u Ferns are also within our mini-Rainbow Eucalyptus Rainforest. Enjoy the stunning 90 - 100 degree ocean views of Hawaii Island's Western Coastline, as well as the new Volcanic Vent (Known as Fissure 8) created by the 2018 Eruption of the Kileaua Volcano. The Hawaii Volcano National Park (HVNP) is a 14 mile or 20 minute drive from our campsite. HVNP has a visitor's center to get information about the park, hiking trails throughout its boundaries, steam vents and the awe-inspiring caldera, which is the location of the volcano's lava pool. At night, the glow from the lava in the caldera can be seen at the park. Our campsite is also an 18 mile or 29 minute drive from the Hilo International Airport and the town of Hilo, Hawaii.Experience relaxing and enjoying in your own private cabin. You'll be nestled amongst the apple banana plants, citrus and guava trees, and a mini rain forest of Rainbow Eucalyptus trees, Giant ferns, and many other species of flora. Enjoy the sights and sounds of this tranquil tiny cabin location in the tropics, alive with the beautiful, lulling sounds of the Cocqui Frogs, star filled and moonlit skies. Be marveled by the quick wit of the homestead's Muscovy ducks. As the cabin's namesake suggests, our Muscovy ducks are as tropical and cute as can be. The cabin bedroom sleeps 2 campers in a full sized bed. The 2 additional campers can either sleep on the lanai, in the kitchen area, or tent (camper's own tent or rented tent from hosts). The lanai can accommodate 1 cot and the kitchen can accomadte 2 cots (campers own cots or rented cots from hosts).

We had a great time! Loved the ducks and the cabin was lovely. Very secluded but only 30 minutes from Hilo and accessible to the rest of the island. Esther and Chris were great hosts. We’ll definitely be back!

Perfect Stay in Hawaii, Will Return

My friend and I really enjoyed the stay at Christopher & Esther's homestead. The house is very cozy, and there are also a lot of amenities, including hot water for shower and for daily use, all sorts of cooking appliances, Wi-Fi connection, cleaning supplies, and sunscreen and bug repellant. The host and hostess Christopher & and Esther were very hospitable, they showed us around, introduced all types of amenities and specialties of the homestead, and they also responded promptly to all sorts of questions. The homestead has a very beautiful view, too. It is on a farm where you can spend a lot of time with ducks, and banana trees, and get a view of the rainforest and the ocean while staying in cool temperatures in the mountains. My friend and I really enjoyed our stay, as we experienced Hawaii in a more authentic way by living in this homestead that is cozier and more comfortable than glamping, and we would return again in the future. Thank you Christopher & Esther for your hospitality!

Christopher and Esther were very nice and helpful for anything that I needed during my stay. The ducks are a lot of fun too. The cabin feels private and had everything I needed. The warm shower was very nice. Mahalo again for a great stay! Aloha

amazing experience!

My family and I had such a relaxing stay here. We loved waking up to the ducks greeting us and falling asleep to the birds and tropical sounds. It was a very peaceful stay after being in a resort all week. Despite it being a rustic cabin, the bed was very comfortable and kitchen was fully equipped with all necessary cooking supplies. Christopher was very friendly, and we loved hearing about his experiences living around volcano country! Will definitely return next time we visit the island.

The ducks are fantastic greeting and following us around. I enjoyed feeding them. The cabin is really a glampiing (glamorous) experience. And to top it all Esther and Christopher are very friendly, very hospitable hosts. We had a quite great conversation. She’s also suggested the local popular eateries around the area. Awesome place, awesome people, awesomely ducks!
