This epic property was built by a Dillingham daughter and her husband in the early 80's. Transformed into a bed & breakfast in the 90's it is now known as Hawaii Island Resort. This consecutive guest review award winning facility capitalized on the 2018 eruption by starting Hawaii Island Macadamia Nut Company. The orchard has been left alone for more than 20 years with only wild pigs and poultry to tend it. This remarkable property now boasts above organic macadamia nuts just beginning to reach global markets. You can buy cheaper macadamia nuts but you can't buy better nuts. We love to share our abundance with others and opening the property to travelers that love to camp seemed like a perfect addition to our current program. We look forward to meeting you :) We have firewood. Please do not bring any outside sourced wood in. Thanks!Goldilocks climate zone allows you to camp in our macadamia nut orchard. Gently rolling grassy areas with the macadamia trees for privacy. Panoramic ocean views in some areas of the property. The dark skies provide spectacular stargazing. Very near the southernmost point of the USA and Green Sand Beach. Indoor ½ bath, and outdoor showers with endless hot water make this a safe and comfortable place to pitch your tent. High speed internet is available for free. We are sad to to add an age restriction due to guests/campers flushing diapers. Children are still welcome five years and older. Thank you for understanding.   Message for more information, large groups inquire about special rates.

Hawaii Island's Best Campsite
What a fun place to stay! We took a camper van so they put us up on the basketball court to stay dry due to the rain along with a few other camper vans. The walkthrough on arrival was very clear and friendly. The outdoor shower was very cool! Looks like it would also be such an interesting stay if you were to stay inside the house.

Hawaii Island's Best Campsite
Great place to stay.
Staying at Hawaii Island's Best Campsite was great. We originally had 3 nights booked, but only stayed 2 nights given our desire to see other parts of the island on our trip. The location was about 45 mins from the Volcano National Park and 15 minutes to any restaurant/coffee. The check-in process was excellent and started with meeting the host and getting a tour of the site. The grounds are well maintained and beautiful. Given the significant rain the day we arrived, we had to park on the tennis/basketball court, which was flat and had sunset views. The site had 2 very friendly and quiet dogs. There were several bathrooms and hot showers available. The main house/lodge was off-limits to campers. Although, you had free-range of the beautiful macadamia tree and mango tree orchard. There was also a heated salt-water pool that was available to guests 24/7. The only improvement one would suggest for this place, is a communal kitchen area, with coffee makers, hot plates, etc. This place was great if you are 100% self-sufficient. We had camper abilities with coffee makers and hot plates, but it is always nice to have a place outside of the camper that is sheltered from the elements to prepare meals or hot drinks. Overall, we would recommend this place for 1-2 nights and for those needing a transition point to break-up the drive from Hilo to Kona.
