Amazing Carter Lake Camp Site
It was alright
We had an okay time here. I had seen some reviews talking about the nails and screws around the camp. So I made sure to do a walk before settling in. I found a lot of nails and screws. We also found rebar both laying on the ground and sticking out of the ground. Lots of metal trash. When we arrived one of the fire pits was destroyed. It's just rocks so we reassembled it. However, there was no trash can. I reached out to the owner with no response. They had been very responsive before we arrived though and did offer extra directions. There is a large hill you have to walk down/up after going through the fence to get to the bathroom. Can be muddy. Showers cost. And you can't drive down to them without paying to park. I thought there would be more privacy but we were very close to other campers with hardly any trees between us. There is construction going on next to the camp. I don't think it's being kept up. I do think we overpaid for this camp unfortunately. I feel awful leaving a mixed feelings review. I really wanted to like it. I understand that the owners aren't there to look after it. So maybe most of these problems are with previous campers being disrespectful. My best advice if you wanted to stay here is to check and see if any of the lake campsites are open. If not then just make sure you take a long good look around and clean up what you can. It is a large campsite. Plenty of room. Plenty of wildlife.

Amazing Carter Lake Camp Site
Big area w/ lots of wildlife
The site was a little hard to find, even with additional directions. Once we found the site, there were two fire pits so that was a little confusing also. It was a nice site that didn’t get muddy after rains. Our dog was able to run around leash free. We saw turkeys and deer walk along the road by our campsite. Overall, a nice spot and I would return again.

Amazing Carter Lake Camp Site
Loved this space!
I loves this space! Close to campground bathrooms but still to ourselves. We had deer and turkeys run through our camp everyday and it was very spacious.

Amazing Carter Lake Camp Site
Great spot!
The site was great, owners are awesome and welcoming, and the location is perfect. There were a couple different options to put our large pop up. There is a picnic table and fire pit area with great views. Marina, bathrooms and showers are a short walk and Windjammer restaurant, general store and swim beach are a short drive. There's a plethora of wildlife in the area. All areas are pet and kid friendly. We would recommend and go back!!
