Beautiful base camp for all the San Luis Valley has to offer! Located near the base of one of Colorado's most beautiful and storied 14'ers, Mt Blanca. Very close to Sand Dunes National Park, the trail head to Blanca peak and cute mountain towns that boast a nice vibe and supplies. Short drive to several hot springs. A nicely cleared path takes you to a fire pit with seating for four provided. Look over the mountains and plan your day out while surrounded by serenity and beauty.Beautiful base camp for all the San Luis Valley has to offer! NO WONDERING OFF. LAND VEGETATION IS VERY FRAGILE. All persons must take pictures of the campsite including fire pit and tent site before they leave and send to us. This insures no litter or vandalism is put on you. Vehicles with high clearance are necessary, we made it just fine in our minivan but no compact cars. Feel free to explore the five acres as you will be the only ones there the night it's booked, just be careful of the cacti. Site is marked well with wooden poles. Close to main road. Terrain is scraped for tents. It can get windy so be sure to check weather reports. Fire restrictions for Costilla county are to be followed. No wifi but steady, strong cell signal for most carriers.

Vast desert

If you look for a wide space all for you this is it There is desert and the mountains in the back But nothing much around . Very basic . The host is very receptive and accommodating Has good cellular signal

Great spot!

Great stay at Peaks Ahead! GPS took us to the exact location with ease. The camp was very private, with beautiful views of Mount Blanca. We enjoyed the fire pit and seating area! Would recommend and stay again!
