Make Cowboy Coffee with no mess for the coffee pot with the delicious coffee in a tea bag packets (plus non-dairy creamer, sugar, stevia, and assorted tea flavors) that we include in the “magic” storage box for your enjoyment. Please bring your own ice, though, if needed for the ice chest - you can buy ice (around the hill, about 2-3 minutes away from our property) at the Old Firehouse Market or Marshall’s Market here in Aromas for around $5-$6 a bag.
Each campsite has a Traditional 6 ft. Wooden Picnic Table and some fun and sturdy eucalyptus-logs seating by the campfire pits. You can use the Adirondack chairs that we also provide for seating at each campsite, or bring your own comfy camping chairs to make the campsite feel even more like your own personal space.
Cute and Friendly Ranch/Farm animals to interact with, with no farm smell or flies at campsites from them. You can visit our nice horses, and our hens who make all the eggs! We have a really awesome “heavy metal” rooster, too! **While we are animal lovers, Grey Oaks (for multiple very good reasons) does not allow any guest pets, emotional support, or service animals of any kind on the property. Thank you for your understanding.**
Private Hiking trails (with a 2 mile loop) and lots of tree cover and open areas throughout the property.
12 ft deep Swimming Pool on site - Open for use in late Spring through mid Fall. It’s still kind of cold here for swimming up through the June gloom, but there are random days that are hot. Check your weather app to see if it will be good weather for swimming during your stay, and bring your swimsuit and favorite towel. :) It hasn’t been remodeled, yet, so it’s still old, but is perfectly functional!
2 Custom-designed Outhouses - eco friendly 100% biodegradable with toiletries and service provided, but you can also service them, if needed, between times because all the supplies are right there in the storage bin and it is very easy to do.
Hot Water enclosed Outdoor Shower with dressing area and parking - located just up the driveway closer to the house by our well - which is also near our farm animals, so you can visit them too while up here, but it’s not too close right next to them. Please bring biodegradable camping shampoo and soap for your use. (We will be adding a 2nd shower and dressing room once we see how much demand there is for the first one).
Recycle and Trash Bins conveniently located on site for you to use.
Touchless Hand Sanitizer Dispensers
Custom Sink/Washing Station (with energy and water-saving design)
Fresh, clean, and pure private well water
Free Fancy bottled water for drinking
Full-Size Bbq/hotplate/smoker (at site 1) with propane supplied.
Standard Bbq - Charcoal included - (at sites 2 and 3) - super convenient because you don’t need to buy/store/waste a whole bag if you’re only using it once or twice while here. Sorry, but for extra precautions regarding fire safety I do not have the separate charcoal bbq grill at Site 4. There is a grill over the fire pit for cooking, though.
Fire extinguishers on site for emergency use.
Friendly Meet and Greet check-in process, with easily accessible hosts just a text or phone call away throughout your stay…
More Campsite Details:
Grey Oaks is a single-residential private estate, private social club, and animal sanctuary. We have 4 campsites available - (Grey Oaks house is on the property 1/4 mile from the campsites - and no large events such as weddings or businesses are held here).
Sites 1 and 2 can accommodate an RV up to 24 ft - including any vehicle pulling the RV. You can bring your tent or sleep in your vehicle at these sites, too. These campsites are the ones closest to the Outhouses and Water Station.
Although all sites have always been level or mostly level, we have decided that Site 3 is to be a tent-only site now, and it can still be parked at with a car, truck or van, but - no sleeping in your vehicle at this site - unless you have leveling capabilities on that vehicle. It’s very dark once the sun goes down, so if you arrive after dark, you might not be able to see the best place to position your vehicle. It is one of our largest and best sites, and has a huge level area for your tent under the oak trees, and a second, level, designated tent area (that is raked and leveled between guests with more dirt added if needed) and plenty of room for parking.
Site 4 is our most private campsite, and most secluded, but it is a park and hike, tent-only campsite. We can help you bring your gear up there with our Ranch Stallion if you need help. It has 2 large and level designated tent areas that are raked between guests and dirt added if needed. Please check your booking statement carefully to make sure the campsite you selected is correct as we have had a couple guests accidentally book site 4 with an RV or planning to sleep in their vehicle - which would have been a real problem if all the other sites had been booked those nights - but thankfully it all worked out! :) The app is somewhat confusing to use at first, so it is an easy mistake to make.
We have two really nice Outhouses (The first one is 3 inches bigger than a standard port-a-potty and the new 2nd one is even bigger - by 1 ft!). These are great, btw: Very eco-friendly, water saving, 100% biodegradable, clean, comfortable (for most!) and with no odor (so far!). A large hand/dishwashing station with a custom built sink with fresh clean well water for drinking and washing, and a bottle of Crystal Fresh water (delivered by Alhambra) for drinking is conveniently located to all the campsites (a short 2 min. walk from site 4).
So, while we have only been allowing camping here for a little over 3 months now, we have consistently been (and will continue) adding features and making improvements. Things may not have been perfect at first, and maybe there was the perception of a leveling issue previously at one of the sites; but anything that is brought to our attention is dealt with in a timely manner. Thank you so much to all who have believed in us and supported us from the beginning! ❤️
We especially like it when you tell us in a message privately while you are here if you are having any issues with your campsite so we can help, because (1) we care about you and want you to have a wonderful time staying at our campsites and (2) it feels like a public shaming if you save up your concerns to post in a public review about it after you check out, when it could have been quickly and easily fixed while you were here. We care very much about your experience here and don’t deliberately leave our campsites in a way that we think could possibly be uncomfortable for anyone. We are always on site and available. So please tell us while you are here if you are having any problems so we can help. Does this make sense? I hope it does. :)
In conclusion, I would like to say that our Rustic Campsites are very spacious, private, secluded and peaceful; and we have received so many compliments and much excitement about them. So, if you’re in the area or passing through and need a place to camp for a night or few, give us try. From what I can see on the map, we even have the best price and value in the area, too! :)
