Primitive camping
Best for self-contained campers. There are no toilets, showers, or potable water at this Hipcamp.
Right smack dab in the middle of nowhere you'll be sure to see stars all night long. Just beyond the nearest rolling hills you'll find Shenandoah Valley with lots of wineries, wine tasting, and yummy treats. Over the other oak covered hill top you can explore the historic gold belt. Blast into the past with a Kennedy Gold Mine tour in Jackson, antique shopping in Sutter Creek, Drytown or Amador City. If you ride bicycles or motorcycles you'll have miles and miles of backroads to explore until your heart's content. Other nearby attractions include... Murphy's, Moaning Caverns, Big Trees State Park. New Hogan Lake, Pardee Reservoir, Camanche Lake, New Melones Lake, and Don Pedro Reservoir. This 160 acre ranch has cattle (please close the gate), chickens, dogs, and sheep. Enjoy this remote, quiet, boondock camp in flat grass area. There is no water, power, or trash services (pack it in pack it out please). Absolutely no fires in the summer dry season. No tent camping. RV or vehicles with self contained toilets only. Excellent 4G cell phone service. You'll enjoy open grazing land beneath large oak trees. This is quintessential boondock camping in a grassy pasture. Very remote feeling with no neighbors. Off Grid with no services or utilities nearby. Beautiful sunset views. 1 mile dirt road to arrive at the property, seasonal creeks nearby. Great place to get away from it all! No tent camping. RV or vehicles with self contained toilets only.

Salt Lick Knoll
Great communication. We were rained out, but Obie let us know ahead of time it would not be a good weekend. Thanks so much Obie.

Wonderful getaway!
Amazing experience. Beautiful views, perfect weather. Obie was a fantastic host. Fire pit was set with firewood upon arrival. Obie brought us farm fresh eggs Friday evening and welcomed us to the property. Not one complaint. This was our first trip with our pop-up tent trailer, and a great test run. We are fully self contained, no need for electricity or water. We loved the seclusion, being off-grid, hearing the coyotes, cows and chickens. We truly appreciated hosts perspective of "we have this beautiful space, we should share it". Thank you Obie and family for sharing your space with us. Would highly recommend. 10/10

NO TOILET
There is NO toilet or latrine at this location and it is not close to any public facilities. Dogs bark all night. Be warned, not a great camping experience.

Scenic and secluded
Such a sweet and secluded spot! Obie came by with some farm fresh eggs and offered insight on the best scenic route for our journey up north. 10/10 host and camp site!

Salt Lick Knoll
Talk about a beautiful property. Obie has some gorgeous spaces out here and it’s a great spot for grassland sort of campers. There isn’t much shade so any campers please keep that in mind as you prep! Obie was very accommodating and helpful with his knowledge of the surrounding area. He convinced our group to visit Pardee Lake as opposed to Folsom. Definitely a nice lake with less traffic. With the overall great time we had, there was just little communication after first arriving. We wanted to get a fire going on the first night upon our arrival and we were told we could have a small one along with some firewood that would be provided, but it never came. The next day I reached out to see if things had changed where a fire was no longer permitted by Obie. In the event he changed his mind, which would have been perfectly acceptable, we never got any answer. We just wanted to know what happened the first night since there was no firewood provided. It’s his land and I respect that, but a quick text would have sufficed. We didn’t get any sort of answer until later on our second day and we ended up buying our own firewood in the event it wasn’t going to be provided again, even though it was to be on the first night. We got the go ahead to have a fire but communication was quite delayed that second day. Nonetheless we had a great time there!

Over the hill
Amazing views and great host... The spot is primitive without any utilities but it's perfect for us.
