Fishing in the ponds is temporarily suspended due to last summer's extremely dry weather and the damage it did to the fish and other pond dwellers.
For a larger, separate, group camping site for reunions, etc, please visit our 2nd camping area on Hip Camp at Morning Star Ranch Group Camp.
The Stonyford OHV area is just under 2 miles west of the ranch on Forest Road M10. Take a hike and practice your rock hounding in the nearby Stonyford Volcanic Complex, (in Mendocino National Forest boundaries) which is an ancient forearc seamount yielding some beautiful jasper rocks. Close proximity to the historic Eastpark Reservoir (closed in Winter) for all your water sports and swimming. Pet one of the ranch horses who have access to wander through camp. A friendly note to light sleepers, since this is a working horse farm, there may be horses whinnying to each other occasionally during the night, and often the bullfrogs around the pond can't resist singing a few songs after dark. Catch a small glimpse into ranch life. We also need to make mention that, like most of California, this is rattlesnake country so paying attention to where you put your hands and feet are important. Looking forward to meeting you soon! Drive safe!
