The campsite was pretty clean, only complaint was a pile of assorted tools/ building supplies/lumber that probably was there on a temporary basis anyhow. The platform really came in handy, was able to back right up to it, it was level and smooth. Just me my husband and my dog, this place was definitely suitable for a larger group of people with multiple vehicles, the amenities like the fire pit, the platform, the sink/stove counter and the multiple benches and cement table farther to the west past the privacy shack were all super appreciated and kept up well. Easy to drive out to, pretty much any vehicle could get you out there as long as you have 3 - 4 inches of clearance, it was not complicated even when you get off the asphalt road. You are very close to some solar panel sites, and an electrical plant of some kind (you can directly see the security lights at night time from your site to the west, it is less than a mile from you, and they stay on all night), to the south you do still see the city lights, and a bit to the east as well, but looking northwards is very serene, you would think you’re miles away from anyone and anything. The stars were so clear and beautiful, and it is a very quiet area. There are no overhead structures, the Joshua Trees in the immediate vicinity provide very little shade, and with it being in the open anticipate wind/wind chill. We were lucky, it was not windy at all. Had plenty of cell reception with Verizon. James sent very helpful instructions that differ slightly from google maps/maps, but are very clear and seem to be the most direct way to get to the site. There is a gas station right when you turn off the main road in Neenach, which is probably 15 minutes prior to getting to the site, and the Weevil restaurant/market stop on the 138 is about 30- 40 minutes out from the site going east. Thank you James, will definitely stay again!
