Learn more about this land: Welcome to Slate Mountain where you have access to 160 acres of gated, private wilderness with 360 degree mountain views and exclusive waterfront year-round on Slab Creek. Bring your hiking boots or your off-road toys and explore 160 acres of secluded, magical forest filled with wildflowers, butterflies, ancient Pines and Cedars, wild berries, and wild game. Pitch a tent or park your RV at your choice of locations with amazing views and total seclusion. Spend the day relaxing, picnicking, and try your luck at gold panning on pristine Slab Creek where not a single human or road exists for miles. Pitch a tent next to Slab Creek and spend an entire night bathed in the sounds of the rushing water and enchanted forest surrounding you. Plan a retreat. Plan a family reunion. Plan a hunting trip with the boys. Bring your motorless watercraft and spend an afternoon at Stumpy Meadows, a beautiful mountain reservoir a 25 minute drive from the property. Apple Hill wineries and farms are a 40 minute drive. If you bring the off-road toys you also have access to miles of trails throughout hundreds of acres of national forest. Don’t feel like cooking? Frank’s Diner on Finnon reservoir in Swansboro is a quick 20 minute drive from the property. If you need supplies, a nice restaurant, or a day of wine tasting to break up the grit, Downtown Placerville and Georgetown are both a 45 minute scenic drive.  **Coming Spring 2024 there will be three sites available to book on the property: (1) a drive-in tent/RV site, (2) a drive-in furnished bell tent, and (3) a hike-in furnished wall tent. If you are booking the main site for spring 2024 onward, please be aware that there may be up to two additional parties camping on the property at that time. However, the three campsites are each in separate areas so you will likely not encounter the other parties except in passing on the road to/from the creek.** IMPORTANT PLEASE NOTE:  1) For ease of access, and to get the most out of your experience, we highly recommend a 4WD vehicle with clearance. 2) The creek is at the bottom of the canyon, 1.3 miles from the gate at the entrance, and the road down is very steep in parts. We highly recommend an off-road vehicle/ATV for easy access to creek. If your vehicle is 4WD you can drive approximately 1 mile down, park and hike the remaining .3 mile to the creek.  3) Be aware you are in the middle of the forest and wildlife such as bear, rattlesnakes, etc have been spotted on the property. Poison Oak can also be spotted in certain areas.   4) The property has cell service on the upper quadrant, however once you drop below the tree line toward the creek there is no service.Welcome to Slate Mountain where you have access to 160 acres of gated, private wilderness with 360 degree mountain views and exclusive waterfront year-round on Slab Creek. 160 Acres amidst National Forest
10/10 Recommend
My girlfriend and I went to this camp site for our 4 year anniversary, and we loved it. Very private spot, my girlfriend was so surprised she said she’s never been to a campsite where she wasn’t surrounded by other campers because the sites were so close together. The Latrine was very well kept and had small solar lanterns leading the path to it to help us find it in the dark. We enjoyed the swing and the hike to the creek. We walked down because our Corolla definitely wouldn’t have made it - it was a steep incline down but neither of us have hiking experience and we made it just fine. There was some snow still melting on some of the ground and we were able to see different animal tracks in them! Elly was great at maintaining communication and someone came as we were leaving to maintain the campsite/road to campsite. We had such a good time my girlfriend said she wants to go camping once a month now! We will be coming back - and with friends. Cannot recommend this spot enough.

We had such a great time!
Absolutely wonderful! Such a gem, we loved Elly's property! The views of the sierras were top notch, the added bonus of the creek was awesome, and the latrine was in great shape! Elly was so helpful with day hike recommendations too. Stumpy Meadows Reservoir was clean and clear and the doggos loved it! Do not attempt to drive down to the creek on the property unless you have a 4low option and are super comfortable with off road driving. Also, there's a small pull out right before the creek, park there so you don't have to backup uphill. We will look forward to staying again sometime in the future.

160 Acres amidst National Forest
Tent camping at Elly’s land was great! The view is beautiful and the site is big enough to put 2 large tents and an easy up over the picnic table. The fire pit was big and there was lots of fire wood to be found. The latrine was the cleanest I’ve ever seen with little lights showing the path to it in the dark. Directions were clear and Elly was very responsive. We will definitely want to come back to this beautiful place in spring next year. Thank you Elly, for sharing this special place with us!

Peaceful vast space to camp
This place is amazing!!! I took my two pups and tent camped for the weekend. The latrine is a dope addition. The vastness of the land is also amazing. Hiked down to the creek with my doggies and had some lunch. The hike is steep, but short, you can do it!! I can’t wait to come back!! If you are looking for a peaceful escape, you’ve found it here!

My sister and I visited Elly's property with our pups. We hiked from the campsite down to the creek. It was beautiful, and we all had a great time. The dogs played and swam in the creek. We would love to visit again!

National Forest camping solitude
I concur with some of the previous comments provided, such as (1) a 4WD or AWD vehicle is advisable to reach the site, (2) the site is private and secluded, (3) the site still has glass shards the size of a quarter or larger, scattered about, (4) there are still ammunition casings scattered about (I found .22 and .44 caliber) within 15 ft of the fire pit, (5) the dirt road to the creek is steep and could be iffy to reach given the narrowed sections, if one’s at all concerned about the paint job of one’s vehicle, and (6) the pit toilet is likely the cleanest one you’ll ever find at a Hipcamp site. I couldn’t use Elly’s pin directions, as I kept losing the internet, and lost phone contact with her 3x, though she was ready to help me locate it for the last 15 mins. of my one hour search for the gate. The easiest method is to provide the exact distance between the listed address (or National Forest sign post) and the site, which I gave to Elly, and hope she’ll consider giving it to future visitors. The only unfortunate incident is when I heard on the first night some person firing over a dozen rounds from a firearm within audible earshot of the site. That was more bothersome than the relentless mosquitoes.
